so i like tea, quite a lot infact.
and flavoured tea too
fruit
vanilla
all the fancy names that sound like perfumes.
so i just ran out of twinnings cranberry and blood orange tea bags and as with every cardboard box i have i tend to find a use for it by making it into a pig toy or at least pop it in the cage just for chewing. so I did ...

Now it did occur to me that there may still be essence of tiny escaped tea leaves stuck to the box (being cardboard i didn't wash it) and wondered how my piggies would react. well unlike most of their toys they have had a real good chew on it and thrown it around from the loft to the bottom of the cage so it seems the fruity smell attracted them!

but I just wanted to check this is totally safe before i give them any more tea boxes has anyone else ever done this?

Should be fine - twinings tea bags usually come individually wrapped don't they? So I don't expect there's that much in the bottom of the box when its finished? I expect it's the smell that does it for them. I have a box of peppermint tea bags, I might give the box to Jeffrey, he likes to eat mint leaves (the others run away from them!)

My boys try to drink my tea occasionally! I should think as long as you dust the boxes out as best you can it should be fine.

Its never even crossed my mind that tea dust might harm piggies! Mine have all kinds of tea boxes - fruit and herbal, PG tips and my absolute favourite, Twinings English breakfast :)
