Trying to be friends with ex not working

Evening,

i'm feeling really crappy cos i've just been to watch the footy with my ex and he told me he's got a date on weds :'(
Now I thought i could handle this and I was kinda the one that said we should be telling each other this kind of stuff so we could get better friends but when it comes down to it i can't handle the thought of him with someone else. I guess i'm questioning the whole reason I've been trying to stay friends with him in the first place.
The thing is we split up in the first place because of his health problems and he's maintained the fact that he's wanted to be on his own to sort himself out for the last 4 months since we split (he even told me this a WEEK ago!). Then he goes and arranges to go on a date. I'm so upset, and so angry with myself for foolishly entertaining ideas of us being together in the future when he's blatantly going to get on with his life without me :-\
Why do blokes say things that they dont mean?!

Just had to get that out, sorry! Men eh? why do we bother?!

Oh Alyson don't be so hard on yourself.
I think this is a really hard way to find out, but now maybe you can get on with your life.
There's someone out there that's just meant to be for you and he'll be a great guy.
Obviously the ex didn't know how to tell you without hurting your feelings, this shows that he only wants to be your friend.
Good luck sweetie, please keep your chin up, go and have a piggie cuddle to make you feel better. :-*
 
Ah thanks Glynis, yeah I know I need to move on! I got lots of piggie cuddles tonight :)
At least the piggies are always here for us and love us no matter what! ;D

Men are (pretty much) all the same in one way or another! I have been with mine 8 years and somethimes I still think 'men are sooooooooo annoying' they are a law unto themselves!
