Does anyone have the Trixie Indoor Pen, the rainbow coloured one with about 8 sections, costs about a tenner? I was thinking of getting it after finding it on a link on here, but after reading the reviews, most people said their guineas jumped out of it! And I was thinking of leaving them in there if i ever went out for a short time etc, but i can't if they're gonna escape!
I've got a large outdoor run, this one was just gonna be for rainy days like today, where at the moment, i have to leave them in their hutch etc.
Some of the runs are quite expensive so i was trying to keep costs down, has anyone actually made one themselves and if so, what out of?

I think that run is only really suitable for using while you're watching them, because they might be able to get out. Some pigs will and some won't :)

We got an foldable indoor run from tesco and it was under £10 and has proved to be great for our piggies!

Yes, i'd thought about making a run from those C and C grids, but it still didnt seem that cost effective, i saw them for £1.50 each and would need about 8 or 10 etc, plus delivery...

Jacky, i was thinking of getting that one, but it didnt seem much taller. A good price though.

I will have a look at the tesco website, i didnt think they'd have such a thing! :))

Hiya, I've thought about the C & C cages, but I just don't know yet what to do. Mine are outside in the hutch during the day and come in to their cage for the night.

I have seen brilliant metal cages on Ebay, with different heights and overall size.

Not sure about the one mentioned on here, will have to have a look. I haven't seen the one mentioned on Tesco either, (I must miss an awful lot lol). ;) Will go check them out.

Had a look on Tesco website, they didnt have a single one! So I have ordered the one that Jacky has and will hope they can't escape! I don't think they can physically jump it, unless they were to push one of their toys up against it and do it that way! But anyway, I'll just put them in there when I'm at home and not when i go out!
Can't wait for it to come because they could've done with a cleanout today but i havent been able to do it because its hammering down and got nowhere to put them...

This is good and def can't jump out! I am going to buy another one and make it bigger - only I bought mine from www.seapets.co.uk which is more expensive but has a cover although it's not very secure so wouldn't leave in garden. They are also ideal for putting around the TV cabinet and blocking off other areas in living room when I let them roam free and can also put the water bottle on :))

Just thought I'd mention I have bought another one of these play pens but from www.ukpetsupplies.com - £12.96 cheaper! Fab delivery 4.99 and came the following day xx>>> Just incase anyone wants to get one! It takes over my whole front room as a 6x6 run but if you have the room great :))... I will be using 6 panels most of the time to make a great 6x3 indoor run

My OH's face will be a picture when he sees it rolleyesrolleyes

I have a rainbow coloured indoor run for my piggles. Not sure if it's the Trixie one or not though as I got it second hand. Don't think I've got any pictures either :(

The panels (eight of them) are just a bit bigger than an A4 piece of paper and they can just about peek over the top if they stand up on their hind legs. They've never attempted to jump it and I don't think they could to be honest - unless they jumped on a hidey or box or something first.

In my opinion, it doesn't give an awful lot of floor space though (although I was using for three). I use the sofa as one 'wall' too to make it a little bigger (although when doing this Pixel has discovered that if she shoves the end and nothing is holding it in place she can explore the rest of the room too rolleyes)

I've got that pen, I only use it indoors when I'm watching them as they could climb over it - Amber tries but she never actually has.

I'm going to buy another one soon and link them together x

I have that pen, I only use it when chocco and marvin are supervised however as both of them have managed to haul their fat bottoms over the top in pursuit of vegitables on the other side of the kitchen. :P

I am thinking of making my own outdoor run with some chicken wire from wilko and some odd cuts from homebase. does anyone know a site for 'how to' for these please?

Chicken wire is very thin you would need something thicker. I think someone on here has just made one.Be careful that with the time it doesn't cost you more.

You need to make sure that whatever mesh you use has small enough holes that predators can't get in. We once lost a guinea pig to a ferret because of this. :(
But lots of people have successfully made their own runs so there's nothing to stop you making one. :) You could also keep an eye out on e-bay and freecycle as they pop up every now and then.
