Nah, I'm not going on holiday, but family are and they're flying into Manchester before flying on the following day. I can shuffle things around a bit to be there, but the whole public transport thing makes me uneasy, I've had a couple of absences again recently. Nothing horrendous, they're usually when I'm home, but they're linked to my being overtired and stress from trains probably won't help that.

I mean I can do it on paper, right? I should go, might be the last chance I have for some time, but I don't look forward to the train bit at all.

I kinda wish I'd had more warning on this, they only said to me on Saturday or I could've organised some sort of company heading into Manchester or something. Also it'll be the first time I've seen my sister in 11 years which is in no way helping the anxiety along, lol.

It’s a shame they’ve left it until the last minute to tell you. But if you haven’t seen your sister in 11 years, use that as your incentive even if you are anxious about seeing her again. It’ll be a good thing for you 😉

I feel your pain, I hate public transport and don't do things I would like to because I have panic attacks just thinking about it. Sometimes it's good to go out of our comfort zone and try things we find difficult. I think you should do it, it will probably all go smoothly and you will be so proud of yourself when you've done it.

The train into Manchester Airport is really quite an easy journey.
I did it from Lime Street a few months ago and it wasn’t at all stressful.
You will be fine

I don't remember it being awful, but it's been years since I was on the trains. I've done the trams more recently but I'd need to swap trams in Manchester proper. Actually I wonder if I'd have to swap trains at some point because if so screw it, I'll get the tram.

What day/time are you traveling to the airport? The trams can be very busy during the rush hour.

Yeah, originally I was going to have to say no because I'd have an appointment between one and two on Friday afternoon and fat chance of managing that on a Friday, really. But it's no longer an issue so I can head down mid-late morning.

Go for it! I went by train to Manchester airport in August and it was quite easy. Even if @Merab's Slave hadn't been along, I wouldn't have got lost.
It was more of a hassle travelling home from Linz to Vienna last Wednesday, because every train coming from Germany was delayed.
I can't say that I'm a big fan of public transport but without it we all would need to go by car everytime we want to go from one place to the other.
And living in a big city, I use public transport nearly every day. Take a book along or some music to listen to and relax. (Trying not to inhale too deeply can also help at times.)

I'm just not a massive fan of trains in general. I prefer trams but to get to the airport I'd need a change in city centre, probably before Piccadilly, and the tram routes change occasionally. Finding the right place to change, I'd rather not be wandering around half the city centre for it. Trains would be fine for a switch in Victoria but I'm not a fan of Piccadilly Station either. Am I difficult? Yes, yes I am lol.

I've done it before, I know it's not impossible, but it's been more than a few years at this point. And I just need to keep reminding myself of that.

I'm free Friday afternoon after 12.30 if there is anything i can do to help?

So apparently they're arriving around half one, but they can't drop their luggage off at the hotel til around 3. So it'd be the airport, definitely. There's a free drop off at Thorley Lane, but I don't know how easily accessible it is.

Do you want to message me on my mobile and we can see what arrangements we can make. I'm in the office today so might not get back to you until later.
