Hello, I've recently just rescued a trio of Boars they have been bickering quite a lot and they seem to single one out, they haven't fought or drawn blood yet but I am worried I may have to split them up. If I have to split them up am I beat of pairing the seperate one with a female or another boat. Also if I get a female will that cause the other two boats to start fighting because I will have to keep them all in the same room but in different cages. TIA

Hello and welcome @barrybeebenson.
I’m afraid a trio of boars will seldom work and you are already identifying signs of bullying.
How old are they?
What size cage do you have?

We have a trio of boars, we are lucky that they don't single anyone out, we used to see lots of arguments but they have settled since we moved them into a C&C cage instead. With boars, the more space they have the better. Fingers crossed they settle for you.

Welcome to the forum.
I have sows but I know from others that trios of boars rarely work, especially as the hit their teens

I’m so sorry to tell you that with 3 juvenile boars you are really best cutting your losses now. Things will only escalate as their hormones rage.
If you have one pair who get on and one single, it would be best to remove that single one. If you have him neutered and wait 6 weeks he can have a lady friend. If you are going to have a lady then it’s best to keep the sow/neutered boar pair out of the sight and smell of the boar pair to help maintain harmony in their relationship.

Welcome.
I am hearing many members saying 3 boars don't live well together, 2 will suffice.

I personally wouldn't get a sow when there are 3 boars. Maybe split up the cage, and house one boar separately but very close by.

Just curious why you wouldn’t get a boar neutered and then get a sow. I think most piggies would be happier in a pair than on their own.
In the rescue we have many pairs of boars, pairs of sows and neutered boar/sow pairs. @The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue has hutches in her garage with varieties of pairs. There is no problem with the sows prompting trouble with the boars.

I wouldn't mind it if they were neutered, otherwise the one sow will have many more babies.

They are about 5 months old and are in a 2x6 c&c cage but it's in an L shape

Just to check, are they in an L shape like below?

If so then this means they are only in 8 square grids, but 12 is recommended for 3 boars, is so they need more space. Ours bickered until we moved them in to a 3 x 4 C&C cage (plus a 1 x 3 hay loft), also make sure you have at least one hidey for each of them, and one spare. I've found that most of our bickering is at veggies time, so I've started to hand feed them veggies to make sure they all get some, also doing this means they are getting more comfortable with me. Also do you have plenty to keep them occupied, they could be bickering cause they are bored.

This is our cage setup, we've added more hideys since, but have found no matter how many you have, one will always want to be in one someone else is in!

And as you can see, they are sill very happy together!

SO CUTE! What age were your boars when they were introduced to each other?
