So I rescued a guinea pig a few weeks ago and I have no idea where he came in but he HATES being touched. Will absolutely not tolerate it. He will come sit in my lap and he can touch me all he wants but I am not welcome to touch him (silly guy). My problem is that he has extremely long nails and anytime I am able to force him to have me hold him he does not sit still long enough to clip his nails. He is always trying to find an escape. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for this? His nails are just starting to get too long and they really need to be trimmed but he will not stop moving!

If you are having that much difficulty with him take him to the vets and let them do it for you. If you really feel that you want to do it, try wrapping him in a towel (like a Piggy sausage roll) with one foot hanging out, get someone else to hold him and distract him with something tasty while you trim away. Then repeat until all nails are trimmed. Good luck.

:agr:
That’s how I have to do my boys - wrapped in a towel with someone helping.

Haha my Rupert was 10 months when I adopted him, Jessie was 7 weeks. She's terrible! He's great!
Think it depends on the piggy!

My exotic vet showed me to use towel to hold him gently. SInce then, I have easier time cutting nails with the use of a towel.
Finn struggles a bit but Lara is really good about it. It takes only about a minute to cut all of Lara’s nails but close to 5 minutes to cut Finn’s nails with giving him breaks in between. Also, Finn complains about his hair cut. He does his best I feel, bless him. XD
