OMG i heard about that earthquake in kent and it kinda shocked me. I hope everyone in that area is ok!
I was kind of surprised to hear about that at first but i guess its nothing new for England.
I know it wasnt very big but still, seems like it got people shaking.

Really?
hmm well i heard a earthquake hit there, measuring 4 something on the scale. It was pretty shocking even though it wasnt big.

omgosh :(

I hope it didn't hit anywhere near colchester :(:(

Awwh the poor Kent people, I hope they're ok :'(

my brother lives in folkstone and i in maidstone, he said that the house was vibrating and because he lives on the hill shadowing the channel tunnel they presumed there had been an explosion in the tunnel, but his house suffered some cracks in it, have seen him yet but he is fine but shaken, parden the pun lol

I heard it was Dover. i wonder if quakes could become something regular over the next few years

Oh thats terrible. Hes ok though right? I once felt a shake when i was lieing in bed, a year ago. It was reported but wasnt as big as this one.

It was in folkstone i think. I dont really understand what caused that.

I bl**dy hope not! :(:( I don't like the sound of earth quakes! I think I would like to stay in 1 piece until I'm very very very very old!
Ooo I really hope it didn't hit colchester :'(

colchester probably is a definate no here. where exactly is that place?
I have always wanted to experience one properly but id most likely think differently if i did ever expereince a fair sized one. But id have to be used to it because I'm thinking of living at a place with these disasters shamly. :o

Dover is like 5 Min's down the road from Folkstone they are very close, but yes he is OK and I know what you mean, sometimes nature scares me!

Oh is it? I learned something new there:)
Very true. Hopefully earthquakes wont get any worse in this country, fingers crossed. I dont think theres been one like this reported for many years!Hmm but i did hear that they can occur anywhere.

omg that one that occured many many years ago in great yarmouth measuring 6.1 on the scale. I never realized they got this big in England :S

;D they only mentioned it breifly on the morning news :) at least thats all I heard :)

WOW news travels far. fancy telling you guys on the other side of the world about a tremor on our island? COOL

I really wouldnt worry, there are loads of tiny plate boundaries all over the world, luckily the UK doesnt lie anywhere near any of the major faults, so earthquakes here could never get any bigger than tremors, only really have to worry if you live soewhere like the west coast of USA, Japan etc, where major boundaries are which cause earthquakes like the one of 9.2 in Anchorage Alaska in 1964.
So dont worry guys, earthquakes arent something that can get 'worse' they are just random, but we are frtunate enough to live in an area (if youre in the UK) so that we dont have to worry! :)

Cat x 0:)

I live near Colchester Ali, definatly no quakes around here. A good hour and a bit away from kent by car.

I'm safe and sound although we are not on any tetonic plates here the Island does have a major crack down the centre so we could end up one day with 2 islands , the epicenter was 9 miles in the Dover straights makes you wonder if it could have affected the stupid channel tunnel (never agreed with it anyway), we seem to get minor problems like a tornado that hit the london street a while ago and now an earthquake thats hit Dover a few streets affected yet again,

and I have family well hubbys who live in Colchester as we use to live in Harlow and its no where near Kent where I was born and have family in Chatham,

It is worrying!

cat i agree with you. Its very true, theyre not half as bad as what they can be in Japan for example. I know theyre not bad ones there always but its possible to have a major one at anytime. Here it isnt, so thats one thing. However these disasters are somewhat weird in this country in my opinion.

I'm so glad Australia isnt on any fault lines or whatever theyre called... it would be so scary being in an earthquake!

They get tornadoes though i think. Am i right? Hmm i dont think theres very obvious fault lines in England either or i should hope not.

Um... Some places in Australia do get Tornadoes... just not where I live! :D lol!

There was also a tornado in Birmingham last year some time!.... Nature can be wonderful but so very scary too!
