Hi Guys,

My silly husband treated our lawn about two weeks ago with lawn food and weed killer - now I can't let my wiggy's out! When do you think it will be safe again?

The packet apparently said as soon as the lawn has been thoroughly watered you can allow pets on there - but obviously it is different for wiggy's as they eat the grass too.

Poor things are wondering what happened to the outside world!

Many thanks.

I would wait for at least three mowings, so that the chemicals have a chance to grow out.

I agree, I treated our lawn about a month ago now. Done two cuts so far but the grass looks better for it. Will wait till cut third time before putting mine out, just to be on the safe side.

My piggies tend to weed and feed the back lawns when they're out anyway :)so I don't bother treating it, it's really looking good at the minute, it looks better than my front garden which I do weed and feed.

I agree though give it at least 3 cuts before they go out on grass again.

Ok - thank you very much for your advice, looks like they got two more mows to go!

Thank you for all your help xoxo

Just grass decoy !

When we have our lawn treated during the year i put newspaper down on the patio and put the runs on top.I sprinkle JUST GRASS on and they love foraging on it.Its not real lawn but piggies are kept happy for a few days !

I had exactly the same problem...my old contractor came out and treated the lawn, I luckily saw the paperwork in time before letting them out. It took about 4 weeks before I was sure it would be okay and we'd had plenty rain (no change there then!). Now it's always a race to get the piggies to munch away before Mr Lawnmower man comes.

I'm glad I saw this thread, now I feel safe enough to pick the grass on the front lawn (was treated aaaages ago) which is getting really long. Lucky piggies :) I told my dad he's not allowed to cut it either and I'll pick it all! I don't want to put the run out there in case someone steals them or something!

Just grass is a dried grass you buy in a bale from pet / farm suppliers. You can get it from equestrian suppliers too.My piggies love it ! Just small handfull each day for breakfast or as my previous message discussed.
I use it mostly over the winter months when they cant go on the lawn for several months.
Its also called Ready grass thats just different brand.I pay about £8 for big compressed bale in plastic.
Helen x
