I am trying to decide whether it is better to keep the piggies home with a pet sitter or take them to our local rescue for boarding.
Here are the pros and cons of each-
(Let me know what you think!)
Pet sitter | Rescue Boarding | |
Pros | -I know that the piggies are safe at home. -I will be able to monitor the temperature in their room. -I trust our pet sitter. -The piggies might be more comfortable at home. | -The people working at the rescue are experts. -They will know what to do if one of the piggies becomes sick. -They can give Stubbins medicine if necessary. -I can easily drop them off. |
Cons | -The pet sitter won't be able to help Stubbins if she has diarrhea. -She won't be able to identify possible signs of illness. -She doesn't have much experience with piggies. -If Stubbins has an accident on the fleece, she won't be able to wash it. -Plans have to be made months in advance (requires much more planning and preparation). | -The piggies have never stayed overnight anywhere else. -They are used to free-roaming (a smaller enclosure might stress them out). -I can't control the temperature. -I am worried they may potentially end up catching an illness from the other piggies (e.g. lice or a URI). -They will be in a strange place without me. What if this breaks the bond I have built with them? -Stress can worsen Stubbins' symptoms. |
