Hi!
We will soon be taking a longer car journey to visit relatives, with our guinea pigs.
I have done as much research as I can, and hope I have most things covered. The boys currently have a random assortment of fleece in the playpen, so we can use it when we are away, and it will hopefully smell of home and them.
What unusual item, or item have you been without and wished you had packed for a guinea pig going on holiday?
I think they are going to have more than to take than us, looking at the growing pile!

If you have a cardboard box you can put the fleece in to travel and use it as a hidey when you arrive!

Only thing I can think of is are there any other pets or children living or visiting where you are going and how to keep piggies safe from them! A few years back my mum was all for me bringing mine up (when there were only 2) as she hadn't seen them before but she has a lovely little cat who is really good at climbing. "Oh she'll be fine... she's not interested unless it's got feathers" but I wasn't so sure. Then it turned out hubs couldn't go anyway...

So I left them at home with hubs and just took the kids and guess what. Another family member popped round to visit us and brought a surprise... "Look, we got a dog!" and in she thundered - big choc lab - desperate to meet everyone - crashing through the kitchen - bowels emptying in excitement (she was young but not a pup!) - and I was soooo pleased I'd been careful. I said to mum after, "Did you tell her we were talking about bringing the pigs" and she said, "No - I didn't think to - I didn't know she'd got a dog though..." The cat had rocketed upstairs when it happened followed closely by my son who doesn't get up close with dogs. I don't know who was more freaked out!

We've met her again since, and if you like a heavyweight who loves to love she's ideal as when you sit on their sofa the dog wants lap-time!

Thank you. We successfully made it. Guinea pig packing was more than our packing.
Piggies are enjoying their holiday, they settled in quickly. No other pets or people to account for apart from older hoooomans. Who have unsuccessfully tried to make friends, just by chatting near by.
I did not expect to feel so protective over our guinea pigs.
Unfortunately we did not account for the weather forecast being wrong, and having to travel home next week in the heat.…. currently planning the best way to keep us all cool.
