morning all! just curious if anyone has ever managed to alter their hutch to put a ‘trap door’ in? essentially its a little bit of wood on hinges that can be opened and shut for safety reasons, dividing the two levels if need be. i am just trying to figure out the best way to keep it open, wether to use a bit of wood or actually buy a little latch or something to keep it in place? will attach some pictures to explain!

Mine has the swivel catch you can see on the picture you’ve attached.

My boys are shut in the top half during winter nights as it’s easier to keep that one level warm

is it something you did yourself or did you buy it like that?

It was bought like that, but adding a door and a swivel catch to hold it open is probably going to be quite an easy thing to do - support piece at the back wide enough for the hinge, the wood for the door itself and then a catch at the right height.
(I’ve closed up the ramp hole before to make a double storey into two separate hutches, but seeing how the trap door on one of my hutches is, it doesn’t look too complicated to replicate)
