Hello

we’ve almost finished getting everything prepared so will soon be letting the rescue know we’re ready. Does anyone have any recommendations of pet carriers? Or would a cardboard box with holes be as good? It’s about a 5 minute drive.

Secure cardboard boxes with holes in is pretty good but a sturdy pet carrier will be better. there is lots of good ones on amazon which I can attach if you want me to. Just fill it with newspaper and hay and the piggies will be very happy! I hope it all goes well.

that would be brilliant if you wouldn’t mind -was looking on amazon but I was getting overwhelmed with the choice and which would be suitable

I bought a sturdy pet carrier from Pets at home - it’s useful to have one just in case !
I’ve just checked and it’s out of stock - sorry
I'm sure you’ll find a good one on amazon 😊

I don't have all of these carriers but they look really good and I would definitely buy them if I didn't already have a carrier. Hope this helps!

It's helpful to have a carrier for vet trips etc but we brought ours home from the rescue in a cardboard box, and they've also travelled other times in a box.

One word of warning, cardboard box may not be watertight so if they decide to do a wee in the corner you may get soggy when you pick the box up!

If you're using a car, I understand the most secure place to put them is in one of the footwells in the back (i.e. behind one of the front seats), so if you can find a box that wedges nicely into that space, that would be great.

The Trixie carrier is just like the one I have - it’s sturdy and my two boys are happy in it - I use it regularly to take them from indoors to their outside run - as said before fill it with hay and have it wedged behind a back seat so it can’t move .
Have fun choosing and bringing those piggles home 😊

If you put shavings in the bottom of the box, it will absorb any wee! 👍🏻
