Well, after buying a completely inappropriate hutch (that'll teach me to rely on Amazon reviews) with a ramp that my two beautiful guinea piggies hate to use, I have stuck a new one on credit card. Rainy days when they can't get out to the run, it just seems so cruel to leave them in a tiny hutch :(

So, I've bought a Dandelion Den, got a new hutch hugger and have the fleece/towelling on order which will hopefully arrive in the next few days. Is there anything I should do to ease their transition into the new space or will it just be relief on their part that they can still run about when it rains?

I have the dandelion den it's a great hutch, I have just transferred some of my piggies into this hutch from a smaller one and had a swap around, not a problem they seem very happy :))

That's good to know, thanks :) I think I'm still used to fishkeeping when any slight change had to be managed carefully so as not to stress the fish :))

Congrats on new hutch! I think it a fair point to think about the transfer given how piggies can get stressed. I moved my teenage pigs into a new side-by-side hutch recently and was anxious but it was pretty calm in the end. They had their usual furniture and bedding and just explored and chutted a lot! Also gave lots of fresh veg once they were in as reward. Good luck:)

they should be fine mine were when we moved them into a hutch like 3times bigger than the old one!:)

Hutch is all ready now - hope they like it!
