training to use waterbottle

Hi does anyone have any suggestions on how to train young piggies to use a water bottle. My recent new additions are used to a bowl of water but I dont like it as it gets dirty very quickly. They have had access to a bowl and a bottle but they just ignore the bottle. I dont know if it is a good idea to just take the bowl away - they might not drink then.

Hello. You could take the water bowl out and try leaving the water bottle in with a small dish (or the dry bowl) beneath it so that they recognise the smell of water and the dish (or bowl) too - then they may try to work out where the water is. If you're worried about dehydration while they figure it out, then feed watery type veg. They do get a lot of their moisture from their food - just as we do. You might find they don't use the bottle much anyhow, it depends on the piggie.

Have just a little dripping dish under the bottle and move the bal in the bottle to get them used to the sound. If it doesn't work out, you'd better stick with a bowl. At least yours drink!
