Just caught Toby chewing on some Lily of the valley. I guided him away immediately and now I’m just wondering; is there any need to panic? Can they survive ingesting a little amount of toxic plants without needing to get treatment at the vets? The reason I ask this is because both Toby and his brother George have ingested toxic plants such as bracken, bluebell and daisy before and have been fine, but despite this my first action is to panic incase it could be deadly this time. So what do you think? Should I take him to the vets or do I not need to worry unless he starts showing symptoms of poisoning. Thanks

Hi

Please keep an eye on him and see a vet as soon as he is showing signs of being unwell. Just a little won't probably cause any issues.

Years ago I had my peace lily too close to the run and one (well at least one) ate a bit of leaf. I had 3 at the time and no idea who ate it so watched them all very closely but none showed any ill effects and in fact all 3 went to live on for many more years. Hopefully with it being a small amount you will be just as lucky

It was about 3 quarters of the leaf he ate. He seemed fine last night so I think it passed through him just fine.
