hi i know that people use towels under fleece as bedding
just wondering whether towels would work on their own without the fleece??
and if any one uses towels can * pls explain your setup eg how often you clean out, what you put under etc, and pics would be good too!
any thoughts/comments/advice would be great thanks!

Towels wouldn't wick away the wee, so I wouldn't use them on their own. We use them under fleece, they soak up the wee leaving the fleece dry on top for the piggies.

I don't but i could imagine it them taking too long to dry. I do give them to mine for nesting in when they're outside though

Towels will smell very quickly unless changed at least daily. Also they are made from loops so piggies can get their nails caught in them, resulting in injury, so overall they are better placed under fleece to help absorption. :)

I have a friend who uses towel in her cage. She changes them everyday. She also uses puppy pads under them.

I don't personally think towels would make bedding as in a fleece set up they absorb the urine to keep the fleece dry.
Imagine after having a bath drying yourself and then laying in the towel, the towel would be damp still and not very comfey so if a piggy wee's and then lays in it they'd get damp !
Plus fleece is far more comfey !

I use towel under fleece, you will need at least a couple of layers of towel, and if you sprinkle the towels with baking soda that helps to eliminate the pee smell, I have two girls on a fleece/towel set up and fully change fleece and towels once a week, its fine and the fleece stays dry, obviously I dustpan and brush any poops away daily, but I also have a litter tray filled with carefresh which they do use so I change that daily.
