My guinea pig Walter was climbing out of his carrier to get into his play area when he tripped and got stuck in the netting, resulting in him tearing out his nail. It bled for around thirty minutes before stopping. It's been a few hours and now he won't eat, hardly will move, and is carrying that paw. When inside his play area he refused to get into his carrier and attempted to jump over the walls of the area. He stood in the corner and kept peeing in that area and would only move slightly.
I know he needs to go to the vet, but I'm wondering with these symptoms should we seek emergency care. Thanks.

Hi and welcome

I am very sorry for the accident.
Bleeding for that long should be vet checked asap. The netting must have really gone into the toe and he is in considerable pain on top of the blood loss. Bleeding should normally stop within 10-15 minutes. He will need a proper check, disinfection and a painkiller.

Having raced a piggy of mine to the out-of-hours vets late a night myself, I feel for you. It is really upsetting.
