Hi all, I'm sorry if we already have one of these posts I did have a quick look through to see if I could find one before starting this.
Ok....I thought it would be great to share our top piggy tips, great piggy projects and free ideas :)

Here's mineimage.webp , I didn't want my boys falling down the large gap so I've made a screen.

Hi @KittyandNancy this is the top part of their hutch, I was worried by the large gap so I made a screen/wall so they don't fall down it in the night :)
Here's the rest of it, I've got a weather cover too which I use every night and if it's raining or windy

It does not look that big but it's 5ft by 2ft, it's the biggest I could find. I would so love to have them inside. Your cage us fab :)

That's really a nice hutch. I don't think I could have mine outside here, to hot in Summer and too cold in winter and I know they wouldn't get enough attention from us, but that's us lol. I want to bring them outside for playtime one of these days, when the weather permits.

Thank you @KittyandNancy :)
We've never been to Minnesota but We have been to disney in Florida and that was very hot, have you been to the Uk it rains a lot lol...hence the need for my hutch weather cover...us Brits are known for moaning about the weather. I thought I must put the hutch somewhere we can all take notice of them :) so it's just outside the dining room patio doors there we can watch them at meal times and I can see them from the kitchen window, I find myself popping out to check them many times during the day...and hears me thinking they were meant to be my daughters piggies with me over seeing their care etc I'm now very protective of them.
I'm trying my boys on fleece (with newspaper under it) as soon as they are better and they will be able to use all their hutch again.

I have never been to the UK I would love to sometime. Yes is minnesotins complain about the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer lol. Were never happy. Mn is a lot like FL in the summer hot and humid. I lived in Fl in the early 90s and loved it. I hate winter with a passion.

May I ask why you keep them outside? I can't remember if I read why or not. I know for some it's allergies or space.

I don't know why but I thought you were from the US.

Hi Angela,
We have a lovely big house but we only rent it so no pets aloud inside sadly :( plus my hubby thinks rabbits and guineas are meant to be outside pets (even though we all know they make great house pets).
We went to FL in 2005 (end of September) it was still very hot but lovely. If you get the chance to visit the uk London is great, eg Buckingham palace, Tower of London, Big Ben etc but there are so many amazing places to visit like Yorkshire dales, Devon, Scotland plus many more so worth a visit :)

Oh of course we would have to go the main touristy spots lol. I will ask around here of some other not so well known spots to go also. I don't see it on my radar anytime soon though. :( We are going to California for my nephews wedding in November.

I totally get the husband thing lol. Mine is not a huge animal lover and we would have none if he had it his way lol, but he doesn't. When we were dating I had 3 dogs, 2 rats and a hedgehog I think and I was in school to be a vet tech. He knew what he was getting into hahaha.

I like your hutch so much. I think my project this winter will be to try and make something like that, just for play time in the spring and fall and add an outside grass type run to it with a cover as we do have hawks, eagles and of course my two medium size dogs and any stray cats in the area. I don't think there are many as I don't see any, but I'm sure there are some.

Thank you Angela
My last reply made me smile.... 'He knew what he was getting into' :tu: :gp:
I thought of you today because strangely we woke up to a VERY hot day today and yep everyone was moaning that it was too warm lol, I thought I was only saying about this yesterday...Brits moaning about the weather ha ha.
I think Nancy and kitty would like the outside run etc it would be like going on holiday for them.

Guinea pig camp lol. Look at the humidity 98% yikes. I know 70 doesn't sound that warm but when you factor in the humidity it's GROSS LOL. image.webp

Oh my word, I would melt ha ha. I don't know how hot it's been today but it was 90 when were in FL and that was heat like I had never felt before ( that was the first time I had been to hot place) loved every minute though. My hubby would move to the US in a heartbeat he really likes it.
I know your used to that kind of heat but how do you cope with it? Great air con I'm guessing :)

Lol I like it when it's sunny out. I hate this weather when it's cloudy. This has been a cool summer. We have only hit 90 once which is very weird and we usually some days in the 100s+ We have had record rain this year also. My guess is august will be extremely HOT HUMID with no rain. This past winter was the coldest since I think I was 10 lol. My kids missed 5 days of school in one month just because it was so cold wind chills in the -50's. Them missing school for it is UNHEARD of they usually don't even get snow days since we are in the suburbs of St. Paul and the roads are always plowed right away. I do love thunderstorms though. I think they're so cool.

Well if you ever get over this way you'll have to let me know. We do have the Mall of America about 20 min away. I think it's the biggest or one of the biggest malls in the world, it has roller coasters inside lol.

Oh I remember watching on the news about the US being being affected by the -50 temp that must of been a huge shock. The schooling here is silly when it snows the schools in the city seem to all close for safety reasons. I have always been amazed by twisters not that I've seen one :)

I saw a twister once far off in the distance lol. But we do get them here. We get extreme weather in all temp ranges. This year has been really weird like Monday they say it's only suppose to be in the 60s? Say Whaaaa? In July? The cold wasn't such a shock but the amount of days it lasted was. We will usually get a day or two in a row and only like -30+ they don't close school for that. But this winter it was -0 for weeks on end it seemed.

Stick on Lino squares from the pound shop, one of the best tips I found on here. Line your new or very clean dry hutch with these and cleaning out is simple quick and hassle free :) image.webp

Heard of this tip on here once or twice but it was thanks to a recent post by @Flutterby that I now have a great breathable storage place for my hay. Cost appox £5 thank you Ruth. (This has a zip lid)

Yay! That look's ace Kell! Mine doesn't have a zip lip, just a lid with a slit in to put my arm through. They are so light and easy to move around, keep your hay very tidy and store a lot :)

Ohhh I proffer your one Ruth with the slit in the top, I can not see the zip lasting long on mine. Only problem is I could do with too as my big bale of hay is too big for this I still have half a bags worth in the garage lol.

I've not ordered a big bale yet, but with the increase in piggies at home i'm going to end up going onto the large bales and doing like you do which is putting them in the garage. I think I got my pop up one from B&M's, love that place! It does help only have a slit as there is no fastener for hay to get stuck in :)
