Hi,

Has anyone had a Teeth Spurs operation at Wanstead Animal Hospital (Goddard). If yes what was your experience and can you recommend a surgeon?

Thanks,
Nicole

Hello Nicole
I hope someone comes on who has and it was a good outcome.
The best vets in the country for filing down tooth spurs and anything dental related is Simon or Kim Maddock at the Cat and Rabbit Clinic in Northampton. They are amazing, they do about 40 conscious dentals a week, so no horrible anaesthetic to have to worry about. Many people across the country takes there dental piggies there, I used to do too. It’s very reasonably priced but you do need a referral from your vet
Good luck x

Thank you for the tip, as we are in London and don’t own a car it is a bit too far, but I am sure other readers will benefit from your advise.

Yes, many members travel (me from Cornwall) to see these two vets, guinea pig dentistry is not plain sailing and there are very few vets that have the knowledge and experience dealing with guinea pigs teeth. I hope the procedure goes well for your little piggie, be prepared for syringe feeding afterwards, stock up with critical care feeds etc
have a look at the syringe feeding guide on this forum
Today's instructional video on our Facebook page - Syringe feeding

Hi

You could go by train if it is not too complicated for you to get to Euston station and then take a taxi.
I have travelled with freshly operated piggies back on the train to and from Northampton quite a few times because I don't have a car, either; the taxi drivers got to know me quite well! All piggies have survived the experience. ;)
