Hello There,

I have a little guinea piggie named sweet pea. I've had her for about 6 mo. and she's been happy and healthy the whole time. The only thing is, sometimes she does some weird things I've never really noticed in other piggies.

I have two other girls who will sometimes spray if you accidentally sneak up on them; sweet pea never does. The other piggies rarely sneeze, but sweet pea some what often seems to work herself up into little fits of hyperventilation ending in a sneeze or two.

These things I've become used to, but one thing is starting to drive me nuts: pretty much all day I her this noise comine from the piggy area that sounds like "rrrrrr. rrrrrrr. rrrrr. rrrrrrr." I've concluded that it's sweet pea grinding away at her teeth nearly constantly. Is that unusual or worrisome? I've tried giving her chews, but nothing has stopped her chewing so far.

Any ideas? Is any of this stuff dangerous to piggies?

Thanks!

like teeth chattering? they do this when upset, angry, or they can grate their teeth in pain. or sometimes to tell you to hurry up with food! does she seem happy in herself? could she be in any pain or discomfort for any reason?

Mmmm, not like teeth chattering. Plus she only does it when sitting by herself. She always seems happy. When I pick her up for pets she stops making the noise.

Maybe she's not getting enough hay?

i'm not sure then. :{ does she seem to be eating less hay? maybe worth a vet visit if you're concerned at all. :)
