And i'm so excited! Tonight my lovely husband is putting together the hay loft for the rabbit 150. He brought home 5 sheets of the HUGEST black correx i have ever seen!

Will post photos as soon as it's done. :(|):(|):(|):(|)

Way cool, so has he done it yet :)) j/k ;)

Can't wait to see photo's hun.

Thanks! It's being done now. he got 5 sheets of black 8feet by 4 feet correx!

So first the shop bought cage gets it's hay loft. Then we are re-doing the correx the guinea pig hilton so it's all black and tidy and we will give there a small detachable hay loft onto of the ramp areas to maximise space in there. They are all getting quite big now so as much space as we can give will be great!

I understand you're excited! Around here I think everyone understands the level of excitment a cage improvement can mean.. Pictures as soon as you can, please!

Nope - he couldn't find his torch to get his glue gun and ramp materials sooooo it's being glued right now before the ramp gets made.

I am still excited. It's hard to maintain this level of excitement!

How's it coming along? I think I'm nearly as excited as you hun. :))

Almost there.

We're off out in a minute though for the day so no photos until tonight.

It looks great!

Sorry! It's in photos - I'll put a pic up here!

Well what do you think? Mork is still not liking the ramp - the others had one of these before in an old cage but he never did so he currently has a human elevator twice a day! He goes half way down then turns around and ditto on the way up. Although he is perfectly happy up in the loft in amongst all the hay.

the hay loft is great!,I'm sure the piggies will love it in time,if you find Mork wont use it soon then maybe you could attach fleece or carpet type material to encourage him, goodluck x

Thanks Bonnie. It's lined with roofing felt to give grip already. I think the darkness freaks him out - next stage would be to remove the top of the tunnel so it's light. Or cut out sections to give light.

ahhh he is just a scaredy cat lol,i would think the darkness would make him more inclined to use it?i guess all pigs arent the same, let us know if/when he uses it xx

He's cracked it! GOOOOO Mork!

I'm so pleased - we cut the skylight into the ramp and it seems to have solved his worries silly thing. Whoever heard of a guinea who didn't like the dark?

Still as long as he uses it as it's access to all of his food.

ALL my other guineas run up and down the ramps with no issues at all. I didn't want Mork to be the only one who never.

that looks great I'm thinking about an extra level in my cage but wouldnt have a clue how to make one as good as yours could i borrow your hubby for a bit :))

Oh my gosh, how hard is correx to cut? My arms and legs ACHE!

I've not done the loft for the 120 yet... done the base for the C&C and a tray for them to have dinner in.... phew.... tough work! Just need to do the two lofts now........... Maybe another day! rolleyes

You're cage looks great! This is the one I've just bought (150x74) and I think my hay loft will look exactly like yours! Just ordered some black correx too! I've actually removed the wire 2nd floor because I didn't like the ladder and I've made a wooden level with a wooden ramp. Just waiting for the correx to arrive so that I can get on with lining it.

All I need now is the piggies to go in the cage :<>

I was thinking of using grids and not the ledge that came but in the end we used the ledge as hubby was sure we could adapt it all BUT the opening at the top is tight. So we may do an alteration in a while to make that bigger.

So probably a good idea that you're using wood.

It's such a huge cage isn't it and upstairs just opens it right up!

So when you getting your guineas?

My husband does all the cutting! I don't do anything except direct hee hee

So what you managed?

WELLLLL.... I trapped my thumb between two panels as a tried to force the clippy bit on and I slipped and it's gone all bruised :( My bf stepped in at that point and finished off!

Not made the loft tray yet as the ramp didn't feel very secure so we're going to make a ramp from ply and cover it in something. I'm going to post some pics in a mo :)

YAY can't wait!

Roofing felt works and keeps the nails down as a ramp cover.

So when you getting your guineas?

Gubbins is currently being treated for his mites and then he'll be losing his plums :...

As soon as he's ready, I'll either bring him home alone for a short while or I'll leave him with Jill at Honeybunnies until he can be paired with a female. Either way, it'll be January - I can't wait! At least it gives me plenty of time to adapt the cage.

Just out of interest, what did your hubby use to cut the correx? I was thinking of using a stanley knife.

Yep stanley knife it was. he complained that cutting corrext blunted the blades quickly though so get a few.
