They can have tomatoes. However the leaves, stalks and roots are poisonous. Tomatoes are very watery but I have never heard of them linking to any problems. I have never fed mine tomatoes though. If you are in doubt do not feed it to them. It is true that lettuce does not contain nutriton.

Perhaps you could try pepper and celery. Both of those are nutritional and are easy to introduce.

Hope that helps.

It's Iceberg lettuce that's bad for piggies. There's no nutritional value and it can cause a bad case of the runs :(

Romaine lettuce is quite a favourite with my girls though, as is Cos ;)

Tomatoes and lettuce are both fine to feed as part of a varied diet.

You should avoid the green tops of tomatoes though as I believe these are poisonous, and you do have to be careful when feeding tomatoes as they can be too acidic for some piggies, leading to mouth sores.

I get around the acidity problem by removing all the seeds and 'goo' inside, just giving them the flesh of the tomato which they absolutely love. That way they can have 1-2 tomatoes each a day.

Lettuces don't give a guinea anything much nutritionally, but as long as you're feeding other nutritious veggies - e.g. peppers, and herbs like coriander, parsley, dill - then there's not usually any reason to stop feeding lettuce. It's only a problem when they're getting only lettuce, or loads of lettuce and not much else!

Thanks i never knew any of that stuff :) it will help a lot
:<> thanks again! :<>
