Introducing Sprout and George. So far there’s been a bit of teeth chattering (George), and mounting (both of them), but that’s about all. Sorry the photos are a bit fuzzy - taken with my IPad!

They’ve taken a few naps together, which is a good sign. George is, however, pretty dominant, and has decided to guard the corner he’s trapped Sprout in. No blood has been spilt, so I’m just going to see how the next few days go.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to work out. George and Sprout got into a pretty nasty fight yesterday, so had to separate them again.

Which leaves me feeling like I’ve failed them. Realistically I can only afford two guinea pigs. Not sure what to do now. Do I leave them living separately? Rehome one of them (not really sure I want to do this)? Waiting until George’s hormones have settled, then try again? No idea, honestly.

That's such a shame. Do you have room to have them side by side with a divider? I've got two boars living like this, one in a 2x3 side and one in a 3x3 side of what was a 5x3 C&C cage. They fell out big time (blood was drawn) when the youngest reached the notorious 6 month hormone spike. They seem very happy like this, touching noses through the bars and chatting.

That’s a possibility. At the moment they’re in seperate cages, but if I can manage to build a C&C cage (or a similar setup), then it might do.

It was the best solution I could come up with for my two as I really didn't want to rehome either of them. They rattled the divider and tried to get to each other the first couple of days. Each time they stared that I put an off cut of corex against it so they couldn't see each other and they stopped doing it and settled down.

Yeah, I don’t really want to rehome either of my guys. Okay, George is a bit of a nutcase, but he’s such a character that he brightens my day. And Sprout’s my loveable boy.

Aw, so sorry the bonding didn’t work. It’s such a gamble this bonding, maybe you can try again when George gets past that teen stage. The C&C side by side sounds like a good idea though x

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. How big is your cage, as boars need a lot of space?

Sorry to hear it hasn't worked out. :( Perhaps you could try again in future, like Bill & Ted said? Or a bigger cage might help?

It’s a Ferplast 140. Thinking of doing a C&C type cage, though.
It might just be space that's causing the issue. A C&C cage sounds like a good idea. A minimum of 5x2 C&C is recommended for two boars.

Sorry to read this didn't work out buddy
