Okay so as alot of people know, I have a 2 Tier c&c cage for my trio, Gus and Leo are perfectly fine with it, and still quite skittish, but Alfie on the other hand refuses to use it, at veggie times Leo or Gus will take a piece of veg, and drop it down to the bottom of the cage, then Alfie comes to eat it, he also sits under the 2nd floor of the cage all day, he doesn't run around until night time when I switch the lights out ready to go to bed, so I'm wondering... Should I take the top part down? Alfie is 10x more skittish than the other pigs and he has had the same love & attention as the others (maybe more as he's so skittish) I'm just thinking that maybe he'd start to come out more if he didn't have the option to sit in the dark all day and not eat unless another pig throws some veg down or tips the food bowl over.... As I'm typing this I'm convincing myself more to take it down, although the other boys like it... I need to make a decision soon.
Thanks x

I think you should leave it up, and try training him a bit. Leave a trail of veggies going up the ramp for him while the other piggies are out of the cage! I have some very very small ramps in my cage, and I had to teach my baby to get up them. In the meantime, I suggest keeping some hay, food and veggies on the first floor so he gets a chance at them :)

Thanks and please keep us updated!

Just tried to use the trail of veggies, I had high hopes for it but Alfie decides not to even come out from underneath the top floor... He used to go up and down alot but it's been the past few day's he's just refused... Don't know if the other two are maybe bullying him? or maybe he's fallen off the ramp or not? I don't know but for I've been watching like a hawk.

I would persevere with it. I have a 2 tier with quite a big ramp. Mine were fine but last week we changed the set up and it took them a day to venture up to their new surroundings. Dudley tried almost immediately but silly human had for got to cable tie the carpet on the ramp so it moved slightly when he stepped on it.
He then wudnt go up but after some final safety checks and lots of veggie trails they now love it and its so nice to watch them become brave little soldiers x

With some persuasion from my brother I've decided to give then a 2 week trail without the 2nd level, if if they like it and Alfie starts coming out more and eating more then we will keep it down until they are abit older, as they're still babies. But if not it's easy enough to put it back up no problem, just want whats best for the piggies
