To get insurance or not...?

I have 4 Guinea pigs which I have had since January... Last week we had to take one piggy to the vet for antibiotics and she was treated for an ear infection which cost £70.

I don't know if to just start a savings pot.. My concern is if more than one got ill at the same time and there wasn't enough in the savings pot... Thoughts?

I've seen exotic direct but they only offer multi insurance for 3 Guinea pigs which is frustrating when I have 4 🤣

I’m pretty sure Exotic direct is the only UK insurer for guinea pigs

I don’t have, and have never had, insurance and instead have a vet fund for my five animals (three rabbits, two piggies).

I would say put as much as you can away. I earn £40 a week just for my piggies. I spend some on their hay, veg and nibbles. The rest is saved for vet bills. This is the reason why I only have two piggie as I would hate not to be able to afford vet bills.

I just save so that if a vet is needed the money is there.
It’s not a specific amount each month but as needed.
If the vet fund is healthy I don’t need to put away as much but if it’s taken a hit, as mine did with Phoebe, then I save more until it’s healthy again.
