I have a beautiful texal sow and her hair grows quite long. My partner thinks we should cut it because she’ll get too hot but she finds this stressful. She isn’t getting any bits stuck in her hair because we use fleece so my question is, do I ever need to cut it? Plus I think it’s beautiful 😍 Photo attached x

I can’t offer advice but just wanted to say she is a beauty! If it’s not bothering her I would leave her be.

Maybe just check it's not getting matted or soaked around the bum area. I used to give my long haired piggies a 'short bum and sides' but my new Peruvian is very nervous so I literally have done about three snips to cut off stained hair at the back and let her see at the front! I'm just letting the rest grow and will probably only cut it if it seems to be getting in her way.

I had a texel boar. I only ever lighty trimmed the hair around the back that got soiled and matted. He didn't get too hot but my piggies do live in a north facing room that is cool in summer.

She won't get too hot in a climate-controlled environment, but you may have to trim the back to keep it from getting poop/pee in it. Otherwise I would leave it be, it's adorable!
