My Guinea Pig Reece just died today unexpectedly. I came in and checked on him at 5:30 and he was perfectly fine. Then when I came in here at 4:00 to check on everyone I saw him on the ground taking his last breaths. So now the question is do I bond his cage mate Gyniss with another pig or not? They were only bonded for about 2-3 weeks but they were doing perfectly fine and I actually saw them cuddling this morning. I’m stuck and this sucks. It’s my first pig death and he was a really good pig. I was so happy that I found a pig for Gyniss after going through 2 failed bondings.

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s such a shock when it’s sudden.

Gyniss will need some time to grieve. As long as he is doing ok on his own then you have a few weeks to make arrangements. Ultimately though he will need a new friend. It wouldn’t be good for him to be alone long term.
