My Jasper has been inside since winter- I'm just wondering when it's ok to put him back outside again? What kind of bedding is best for keeping him warm? I've tried paper and pet safe fluff but he just eats it! I've used straw in the past but I heard I shouldn't be using it now?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

We don't recommend straw for guinea pigs - hay is much better as it is softer. They need access to hay all day - to munch on . Hay isn't a very good bedding as it doesn't absorb wee - but you try telling a guinea pig that ! Mine love to sit on hay . Here is a good thread about bedding.

Guinea pigs don't like a variation oin temperature . I would keep them inside for a bit longer if you are able to - with a bit of time outside in a run when the weather is decent. If you are thinking of giving your guinea pigs some time on grass - this is a good thread.

As said above I recommend waiting as long as possible if you enjoy the piggies inside. My piggies are outside so I use an absorbant layer ( aubiose ) and natures best meadow hay so they can keep warm and snuggle into it.
