Instead of attending Cavy Corner Fun Day I sat in the emergency vet's waiting room ☹️ . Tilly seemed fine yesterday morning - eating her hay and anticipating snacks but when I got home yesterday evening she wouldn't come out of her cosy tunnel, even for veg snacks. She kept her mouth tightly shut when I tried to give her critical care. Why do they choose a Saturday night when there's no vet available. As there was no change this morning off me and Tilly went to the emergency vet. To be fair the vet examined her but appeared not to be gp savvy and commented that she is old (she is just over 6yrs) but I came away with Baytril and metacam. Tilly showed her disgust at the taste of both.
I have decided to monitor her over the next 2 days to see if the meds work, but will take her to see Ellie anyway later this week.
She is still in her cosy tunnel, not looking too well, so any healing vibes would be gratefully received!

Tilly has eaten a little bit of hay today and a small amount of cucumber and lettuce but she 'heaved' as if she was choking. I am so worried and Ellie isn't at work until Friday.
I am now going to give her some syringe feed and give her a cuddle and tell her how much I love her. ❤️
So sorry, hang in there, 🤞hope she is ok till you get to see Ellie

I don't think its looking good for Tilly this morning and i am crying while typing this. I have slept next to her all night but she hasn't moved and if i try to give her a drink or syringe feed she heaves as if she is going to be sick. I am going to ring the local franchise vet as soon as they open 😢

I’m so sorry. She can feel your love surrounding her. Sending you a hug ❤️

Sending you hugs and best wishes at such a difficult time. I hope the vet can help Tilly.

BIG HUGS

I am so sorry but you are making absolutely the right decision; I have had to make it for a piggy of mine presenting with similar symptoms. It is the most loving but also the most heartbreaking gift we can make those in our care. You are no failing Tilly, that is what counts. When the chips are down, we all would rather shoulder the extra pain and the inevtiable soul searching ourselves than see one of our pets suffering without any hope of recovery. Thinking of you and Tilly.

Tilly has spent the day at the vets and undergone scans which have revealed huge ovarian cysts so I have made the decision to have the operation but will have a sleepless night again. There is the possibility of a twisted stomach do if that is also the case I have a massive decision to make. the vet said she seems too alert to have a twisted stomach but when i gave her the metacam and syringe feed tonight she actually brought it all back. I love her so much and am now going through the 'what if it will save her' dilemma.

BIG HUGS
I have had to pts various piggies with a swollen shut throat, a blockage in the gut and one who simply lost the ability to swallow. The problem may not necessarily be a twisted gut. Unfortunately, none of the alternatives is cause for cheer, either.
:(

I wish I had better news. You and Tilly are in my heart.
