The summer season is approaching which also means the season of thunderstorms! My guinea pigs have never heard rain or the crazy loud thunder that pops out of nowhere during the summer months. So, this may be a silly question but is their anyway I can mute the sound of the thunder so the guinea pigs don't get as scared? I know their prey animals and with their awesome hearing the thunder may be a bit overbearing. Its probably not a big deal but I want the guinea pigs to be as comfortable as they can possibly be! Any ideas?

Hi!

I assume that your guinea pigs are indoors guinea pigs?

If you can, draw the curtains or place a sheet over the cage and play music or leave the television set on a fairly loud volume to drown out part of the thunder if it is close by. The same also works for fireworks. ;)

I was worried about my girls during thunderstorms but they don't bat an eye. They aren't bothered by fireworks either. You might find they are fine with it, just watch their reaction first time it happens.
