Hi all! Recently where I live there will be thunderstorms all week, my guinea pigs have their own special room in the house across from mine, the walls unfortunately in my house are paper thin and you can hear everything. My guinea pigs seem to be okay but I was just wondering will they be okay with all the thundering going on?

Hi. Based on your post I'm assuming you keep your pigs indoors so they should be fine. But there are a few things you can do to help. Close any windows and shades/curtains. This blocks out the flashing light from lightning. If your pigs are used to music or TV playing you can leave that on to help block out the noise. Make sure they continue to have access to hidies so that they have somewhere they feel safe to go to. Make sure they have easy access to hay right outside their hidey. If they are too afraid to leave their hidey to eat sometimes they are still willing to poke their heads out and grab some hay. Hope these tips help.

I echo everybody else here!

I'm not sure if my pigwigs are psychos but things like thunder and hoovering get them all excited and playful. The only no-no in this house is construction noises, hammer being the main enemy.

Thanks for the advice surprisingly all the pigs were okay and weren't bothered by all the noise but I'll leave some music to play on for them!
