Ok. So, I have came across a cage on Zooplus that I like which is: Vital Small Pet Cage 100| Free P&P on orders £29+ at zooplus! and I was wondering whether or not it would be suitable for three male piggies. The only problem is that it is slightly on the smaller side. If this cage is not suitable - can anybody recommend a reasonably priced two tier cage please? I would be very grateful!

Hmmm. I have 3 male pigs also, and not sure that cage is big enough. Though it kinda depends on the pigs personality and how big they are. C&C cages are what most members use here, (I don't, my pigs have a custom built house and garden outside with a heat lamp at night) but I know that's not always an option for some people. I'm sorry I wasn't much help!

If you go on the RSPCA or PDSA website, they give a rough measurement for cage sizes- though I would get bigger than they suggest if you can.

No way unfortunately 120cm is minimum for two piggies and that cage is a 100cm cage. pet shops should not be allowed to sell them in my opinion advertised for piggies. Please don't even think of a 100cm cage far to small.

Three boys will need space as they can be notoriously tricky to keep as a trio without fights when they reach teenage years. I wouldn't house three piggies in anything less than a 160cm cage and in my opinion that is dicey with a trio of males. Those cages are hard to find. Have you thought of c&c cages? In all honesty Zooplus don't really do anything that is big enough for 3 boars (but then as everyone else has said 3 boars is a very tricky combination).

For two - three boars I would suggest this cage;

Plaza 160 Small Pet Cage | Great Bargains on Cages at zooplus

It is about the minimum size you could get away with, and you also need to think about how you will handle things if the boys end up fighting and need to be separated.
Will you have the space and money for another cage?

Do you already have your boars, and what are they living in at the moment?

I'm afraid a 100 cage is really only suitable for 1 guinea Pig.
A 120 cage is the minimum for 2 sows.
With 2 boars you really need a 5ft x2 ft cage and with 3 boars even bigger. Even if there are multiple levels the only measurement that counts is the ground floor level as not all piggies will use ramps or multiple levels. As you've seen above there is a real risk that a boar trio will not be successful in any event. But it does depend on the characters of the piggies and the amount of space they have available.

Nooo it's far too small, I keep one of my hamsters in 100cm & I think that to small with all her toys.
Why don't you price up a C&C cage it may be cheaper than you think. Go to your mum or dad they might put something towards it.

C and C cages are fantastic but I feel they aren't practical nor do I have any DIY skills.

The preferred area for three piggies is 13 square foot, but you'll need even more space for three boars, that's 16 square foot. In terms of C&C, that equates to a 2x6 setup. It is not practical, wise or fair on the piggies to be in anything else other than C&C if you are considering a group of three boars. And then there is the risk of fall out which is incredibly high for a trio, as we learnt.

You are right about it being on the small side. Could you get the 160cm cage from zooplus that swissgreys linked? It sounds like a trio of boars could be a risk as well so you would need to consider spare cage/s.

C and c doesnt require any diy skills. Have a look on the housing section for some brilliant set ups. Good luck finding something to suit your boys.

Hi , the bigger the cage the better, but , another important factor is the amount of free range ( floor in your house and/or garden run )you give you 3 lads, !

The dimensions given for the 160 cage equates to just under 13 square foot. This is just big enough for 3 girls, you'd need even bigger for boys. This is why I say C&C is better and more practical. For an indoor cage only 60cm wide, it would have to be about 8 foot long for three boys :yikes: I'm not trying to put you off, I'd hate to hear your boys falling out due to space x

I can't recommend C&C enough. They take no skill to make (which is cheaper if you can source the cortex/coroplast and grids separately). Or if you order a "pre-built kit" come with some super easy instructions to have it up in minutes.

C&C really is the best option with indoor piggies as it offers:

-Lots of space
-The option to expand or divide as much as you like for very little additional cost.
-The option to build UP as well as out if you have limited floor space and want to add layers.
- The option to add a loft later if you want.
-The option to be lidless making photos and reaching in to tickle piggies easier.
- Can add a lid if small kids/other pets are present in the house.
- Option to add a stand.
-Easy access to all areas for cleaning.
-Easy to dismantle and store/pack up to load into a car if vacationing with pigs.

....I could go on. But it works out much cheaper than any moderately decent store bought cages and offers far more for the price.

I've thought of something! Do you think this part of my room will be big enough? If not, I can easily make it into an L shape to add more room. It is over 9 foot in length and over 2 foot in width.

It is cleaning day hence why everything is messy and unorganized and plus my room is being done out too.

If any of you are wondering, the greyish blue cage on the bottom is what my two boys are in (minimum size for two pigs) and the red cage on the top is what my new piggy came in a few days ago.IMG_20170122_143112.webp IMG_20170122_143936.webp IMG_20170122_143850.webp

An L shape is great, there are a few people in here with the L shape setup :tu:
Also, my boys would love a 8x2 setup (roughly 9ft long), they're asking "when can we move in?" :lol!:

Tell them they can move in as soon as it is built and everything has been set up.
