Does anyone use these for their piggies or have any insight on if they’re effective or not?

People who do use them: How often?

I was thinking about picking them up for my old piggy with arthritis.

I have to say my boys wouldn't eat them! Although I have heard good things from other piggy owners.

Hi! I have used them for my senior piggy Tony 🌈, when he came to us he was hopping like a bunny, after a few weeks on those he was walking normally and even running. So I'd say they work well enough. His arthritis wasn't particularly severe however. It may take a few tries for your piggy to agree to eat them, but if you can spend the money on those it can't hurt to try. I used to give him one a day and he was almost 1kg 400g. Hope this helps.

I'm a big fan. I recently lost my lovely George (left) at the age of 6. When he was 3 1/2 George started to get impaction and developed a UTI. He was on antibiotics and metacam for this. At his final check up he saw a different vet who spotted his arthritis - 'creaky knees' was how she put it. George was 1.4 kilo at the time and loved to lie around... or so I thought. He stayed on a maintenance dose of metacam twice a day for a good while and seemed in good spirits. Then my friend's old bun passed and I inherited half a bag of the joint support biscuits. I started to give him one a day because he seemed to like them and never thought any more about it. I wasn't really expecting anything to happen. After 2 weeks I thought he looked a bit more mobile - he was definitely out and about more. After a month it was clear; and he'd lost 100g, but in a good way! It was because he was able to trot about much better and he was rumbling his ladies for all he was worth. This would fit in well with the action of glucosamine because it doesn't 'work' overnight, it takes a few weeks for the body to incorporate it.

Metacam probably helped him be more comfortable but OJS definitely made him more mobile and cheerful. It was a blessing when he got to 5 1/2 and started to get bladder problems that he was already on a good dose of glucosamine from these. In fact it made such a difference to him that I went to Boots and got some for my creaky knees. Alas it didn't work for me - you can still hear me trying to sneak up the stairs!
