Hello, my 2 boys are in a 120 cage, I had the idea they'd run about my living room freely (like my rabbit used to) but they destroyed my room chewing and weeing everywhere so I now have a big pen which I set up & take down every day. It's such a hassle though. Thankfully after we've had building work done in a few months, I'm looking forward to them moving into a bigger home permanently & just getting them both out for cuddle time a couple of times a day. Will this be ok? In summer they'll be able to have a run on the grass but in winter will they be ok without a change of scenery?
Thanks

some people who have big cages don't do extra floor time except outside like you say but it depends on how big the new cage will be. i still think it's nice for them to have additional extra space but maybe you'd be ok doing it a few times a week in the winter rather than everyday.

if you don't already, then c+c grids cable tied make a really good foldable pen. i use them and it's so quick to put up and take down. i just clip it to their cage. so that might be less hassle for you :)

Mine don't have extra floor time unless I am cleaning the cage out. This is more so because of my father who I live with not allowing me to have them out because of his OCD. When I clean them out they have a good 2 hours play time outside of the cage.

We are lucky to have a large living room so when they come out of the c&c 4x2 cage for a play, I just put a large fleece down.. They are not brave enough yet so don't wander off it..

We have a 4 x 3 C&C cage with a 3 x 1 loft and when home the cage is open to the living room. It depends on their mood if they come out or not. When away in the caravan they have a ferplast 110 and we try to get them in the outside run most days for a few hours.

Thanks everyone, I'm hoping to build them a super mansion like some of the lucky piggies on here. I find it takes time to put up the hidies and hay and toys in the daily run. I do it, that's my responsibility but would rather reduce stress in my hectic family life.
Thanks again

My two girls have a double ferplast 120 (it used to house four until two off them sadly died) and they get playtime in our large hallway around four times a week on top of coming out for cuddles daily.

I have a 6x2 cc cage,i do let them have a hours floor time, the run is 6 fet in lengthbut it gives them a change of scenery.i have outdoor runs for good weather,i cannot let them have run of house due to having a cat.

My new piggies will be in a 21 sq foot shed, once the peeing on the framing issue has been resolved by yet more lino! and the plan is that they come in every/most evening and a bit more on weekends probably to continue their handling education. However, their outdoor summer run and their indoor pen are both small than their shed! They may be allowed on the floor in the kitchen once the fridge gaps have been blocked off, but it's a stone floor so may be too cold for bald feets! But they would not be allowed 'floor time' due to my fiancée's allergies and tidytidycleanycleany-ness! And that we have sooo many places where a piggy could hide and never be reached again!

I have a 4x2 c&c with a 1x2 loft. I try to let my girls out every evening for an hour.

They run around in the cage but boy do they rum when on the floor!

They're normally happy with an hour. After that they tend to slink off and go to sleep somewhere!

I have a large 22 foot square c&c in my shed (L shaped) which was originally for 6 but sadly I now have just 2. They do a lot of running around but i bring them in the house every other day for a change of scenery and my boy loves nothing more than charging around the living room for an hour or so. My girl is blind so she does'nt bother in the living room but she could if she wanted. So I think it's good to do but not essential if you have large enclosure.

I have mine in 2x5's (5 cages!).. We'll probably let them have floor time when the bungalow is sorted out, but at the moment they just get lap time.

Thanks everyone, that's a good idea for an hour or so every day. My only concern is the wee on my carpet. My boys make a puddle within minutes of being let out! I already have lots of stains from piggie wee on my light carpet and don't fancy anymore. Are your piggies all potty trained?

My boys are in a 5x3 c&c but also get free reign in the living room and hallway. I get lots of 'presents' around the house.
