What cleaners or disinfectants do you guys use to give your cages a thorough wash? I want to make sure I'm using something piggy safe

@Jennybug89 No, I don't mind the smell and when the vinegar is diluted it doesn't seem to bother the pigs either.

I know some people prefer to use F10 or something like that because they don't like the smell of vinegar.

@Jaycey you're very good thank you! I'll clean it today with vinegar as that's what I have on and see how she goes with that :tu:

@Jennybug89 if your piggy has a fungal infection/ringworm you will need a cage cleaner with anti fungal properties. F10 is what the vets use. I buy mine through the vets but you can also buy F10 online. I use the premixed one so I don't have to dilute it. It's vital to kill all fungal spores on bedding and cage wares. Otherwise , even if you treat the piggy you can get further problems with re-infection.

F10 once a month and beapher cage cleaner twice a week. The f10 lasts a while as you only need a tiny bit if you dilute it. I get mine from either amazon or eBay- whichever is cheapest!

Thanks guys :D @VickiA the vet said it could take up to a month to get rid of her infection, how often should I be cleaning it? Is it possible to clean toys, like wooden ones?

If you can affford to bin wooden toys I would do so. If you can't, then you will need to soak them (completely soak and drench them) in F10 or something similar to kill off the fungal spores. It's a real pain, I know, but if you don't do it, then you risk leaving a live fungal spore or spores and the whole thing starts again.

And please take precautions yourself - this is one of those little gifts piggies can give to us humans, too :vom:

I'll bin them in a few days when I can afford to get a plastic hut for her, would be easier to keep clean. Such a pain for us and her! I have the hand sanitizer at the ready and won't let my little girl touch her at the minute
