This is what ringworm looks like!

Oh dear that looks really nasty! Where on her body is that? Full ringworm mode for you then Debbie!

I’m sorry your piggy is unwell that looks pretty nasty. Hope she makes a speedy recovery

Aww poor thing! Atleast she is in the best place to get better 💕

Wow! 😳 hope it starts improving soon.

All the best; that looks rather nasty. Ringworm can come up rather quickly on occasion; especially if the immune system is not at its best.

Yes, it came very quickly, but it is definitely the worst case I have ever seen.

I hope that the itrafungol is going to do the trick the way it did when Ceri with her irregular heartbeat could not shake hers and I had to persuade Simon to give the itrafungol (which he had never used before) a try back in 2012. You may perhaps consider with Simon whether to do a one week on/one week off cat-style treatment course with the itrafungol, depending on how well (or not) the ringworm is reacting to it.
VERY sorry for all the extra work re. disinfection etc. :(

If necessary, you and Simon can also tackle it with additional topical measures.

All the best!

Tootie is currently being treated for ringworm! She likes to do things in style! This is the most impressive case I’ve seen!

Poor Tootie! That looks awful, same place our Blodwen had a big ringworm sore when we brought her home but hers was only half the size and not nearly as scabby. Paws crossed for a smooth recovery x

My rainbow had a near identical patch. Good news it completely healed in a couple of weeks :) hope tootie heals just as quickly

Tootie has had her second dose of Itrafungol and still seems totally oblivious to it! I've checked her cage mates and the rest seem clear, but will keep a close eye on them!

The time between infection and outbreak is 10-14 days for ringworm. If you assume that the outbreak has happened very quickly and badly, then they are not going to show for some more days yet. Infection happens as soon as spores are shed but not during the incubation period.

Are her cage mates being treated too? When rai6was treated we had to treat coco and neo too.

Oh definitely separate her from her cage mates, but make sure. She can still see and hear them. You don’t want a huge problem with the whole pack- trust me. Also make sure you wash your hands after touching her because you don’t want ringworm either as it is one of the few things that can spread between guinea pigs and humans! Good luck!

the OP of this post is one of our most experienced members and runs a sanctuary for special needs piggies. She definitely knows how to deal with ringworm.
