Hello! Was inspecting Sponge’s tummy today and saw this third patch above his nipple. It isn’t irritated or sore, he didn’t seem to react when I was prodding at it. Not sure if this is something to worry about, someone’s insight would be appreciated!

I’m afraid we can’t know from a written description.
Please have any growths checked by by a vet

Here are the pics

Nothing to worry about at all. It’s his nipples. All guinea pigs including males have them 🙂 it isn’t unheard of for them to have an extra nipple. It just makes him more unique 🙂

Thank you so so much Claire that's great to hear! :D Yes, our boy is very unique indeed ☺️

Some do have a third nipple but if that's in the middle of his tummy I'd say it's his equivalent of a tummy button. If you are worried about it or it looks odd, red, sore, swollen please see a vet.

Indeed - it’s directly above one of his nipples so not his belly button, but we will definitely keep an eye on it!

It does look like it... it's not super common but it does happen! I would just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't change or anything over time, but I suspect it's just a weird quirk of his physiology!

Yes! We will definitely keep a close eye on it but it does seem to most likely be a weird little quirk indeed!

Please keep a close eye on it and if anything changes please see a vet.
