I presently have a 7 x 2 C & C cage with an additional 2x2 each end that makes into into a C shape to fit around the room. so all up it is a 11 x 2, I guess if you were to stretch it out. This has a lid on it in case my cats or dogs get into the room.
But I am thinking I could make it better still by making it a 7 x 4 cage BUT I would have to make it taller as I struggle to get into the corners while cleaning it as it is presently. So if it were 2 grids high I could crawl in there to clean it out. That would be much better. Any advice for support when it is 2 grids height. I don't use the connectors, I just cable tie it.
My question is, Would a 7 x 4 that is 2 grids high and has a top made of grids, all hold together with cable ties without any further support. I would make a front door that I could get into.
I imagine people make rabbit C & C cages like this. Any advice or pictures?

I have two 4x2 with 1x2 lofts stacked one on top of the other with a base of grids - which equates to five levels of grids. A bit like bunk beds really! I do use connectors as I think it gives the structure it’s solidity - possibly wouldn’t work with just cable ties.

Cheers, I chucked out my connectors so I haven't got them to try it. I guess I will just have to try it without and and see how it goes.

Without connectors I don't think it will be structurally strong enough to support a lid safely. You could try constructing a wooden frame to attach the grids to.
