Thinking About Getting More Piggies - Advice Needed!

Hi everyone.

I currently have 2 boys who I think are about 5-6 months old.

I was thinking about getting another two piggies (of either gender) and extending my cage so that it will be 2x8 or 2x9 but having a divider so each pair will be in a 2x4 or 2x4.5 (can't extend to a full 2x5 each, the space is slightly too small!). Do you think having some piggy neighbours would upset the boys or make them aggressive towards each other? They are bonded and get along well, no fighting or overly dominant behaviour from either. Any help would be much appreciated.
 
I'm certainly no expert, but I think having girls next to bonded boys might cause a problem, especially when the girls come into season.
I dont think another pair of boys would be a problem but I dont know enough to say for sure.
 
Same here.A sow near them could make them fight but two boars would be fine I think.
 
We had 2 boars and 3 sows...before the boars were neutered, the sows had to be in another room or the boars would fight!

Once neutered, the boars would fight when they were in the same cage as the sows, so we had to split them up...one boar with 1 or 2 sows in separate cages but then in the same room.
 
I am holding my breath and hoping my boys don't start fighting as they are in the same room as the girls.My baby boy is only twelve weeks old so don't know if it is going to kick off when his hormones kick in.If it does they will have to go in my daughter's room
 
Regardless of them fighting or not, I would not put a pair of sows next to the boars. There have been stories of boars climbing the grids to get to the sows.

If you decided to get sows, you would have to put a lid on the sows' cage. Boars can push the lid up if the lid is on the boars' side, but they cannot open the lid on the sows' side.
 
Thanks everyone, definitely not a girl pair then haha :)

I am only planning on extending the cage to a 2x9 if I get a couple more piggies because I will need to sell my dining table lol. Once I jig some furniture about I will be able to extend to a 2x5 which will be plenty big enough for them. Reluctant to get rid of the table unless I actually need the 2x9 if that makes sense!
