I was was just thinking about getting a new cage for Oreo since hers is a good size for one lil piggy but I still think it should be a little bigger. Does anyone have any suggestions on a type/brand of cage that's pretty big and works well?
How long has she lived alone? Guinea absolutely adore company, with a 120 or 140 cage you could get her a friend. Girls are very easy to get to live together |) It costs hardly anything extra to house 2 either.
She has only been alone for 2 years as she was housed with another girl at the animal shelter I adopted her from but sadly at the time we didn't take the other girl and then we went back to the shelter to get her house mate but someone else had allready adopted her. There wasn't much information on her since she was abondened though. They think she was probably her sister. If I did get another do you think that she would bond with her or do you think Oreo would fight with her?
there may be a bit of 'getting to know each other' stuff to begin with but honestly it doesn't take that long for two girls to hit off. and it is so cute to watch how the two interact after the initial asserting dominance. i know dominance is sort of linked with the males but i've noticed when i've had girls when theres three theres always the top piggie. hehe. with two its not so obvious but i do believe there is one with a higher status than the other. dont be disheartened if they dont seem to hit off right away just be patient. though there is also a good chance they could get along fine pretty much right away but be ready for either outcome.
oh and about the cage its always nice to have space i reckon c&c are good and you can do lots of customising so if you get sick of the design or want to make it bigger its very easy to change and add levels and stuff. another idea is get a puppy play pen. though these are more expensive they look real nice inside, you can use the correx idea for the flooring as well and have a nice habitat. they can be a nice idea too. go with what you think will be right for you. look as some other people's ideas on this site. i love getting inspiration. haha even google it. its so insightful!
