Thinking about a second hand cage

I think thats too small for 2 piggies hun, the base is only 99cm long and you would need about 120cm or more really. I could be wrong though :)

Absolutely yes to second hand, us fosterers couldn't survive without them. This one is too small though for two piggies.... and if I am being honest, I hate the 'fish tank' look. xx

yeah the fish tank element was putting me off too .... I think I just wanted someone else to agree with me before I decided I was not going to get it.

Thanks

I know you've decided, but also wanted to add that for a new one its only a tenner more from that website than what she's charging (although i guess you'd save on delivery from her lol) x

Yeah I know .... think I will get a new bigger one .... thanks everyone

I got one of my indoor ones on freecycle..

and another I got on preloved... both were FREE!

I just placed a wanted and was lucky enough to receive 2. I'm currently needing another due to having to put a piggie in quarantine... so even if I am not lucky again, I am really greatful for the 2 I did get..

worth a try first, before you buy a one.. x

What did you get in the end?
I made the mistake of buying one of these first of all fo rmy first 2piggies - they were in it for about a week...now I use it to put them in whilst I'm cleaning them out...a waste of £45 8...

I'm quite shocked your friend kept a bun in there...heres hoping her new one is quite abit bigger!

I haven't got anything yet ..... going to take a trip to P@H soon and see what they have, I have until August to sort it out.

My son has also decided that in the winter he would like the piggies in his bedroom, so have also been looking at the C&C on the B&Q website.

One question though, do they make a lot of noise at night? Will they keep the house awake?

I got a good deal online at pets at home on my outdoor hutch with free accessories, think they still have the offer running.. also remember if * get a deep rabbit hutch you could add an extra floor to it..

It depends on the piggies when it comes to noise.. my 2 babies are VERY noisy they squeek constantly! but dont know if this is cos they are poorly? rattle their water bottle, jump about, in and out of tunnels, etc..etc. My older boys dont though, are lazy, and are only vocal at times, but the water bottle can be quite annoying! depends what you can sleep through i suppose.

My boys are very active and noisy at night too. When the light goes out it's time for mischief.

Mine just chat and chat and chat! :)) I cant even sit and have a bag of crisps without them wheeking at me thinking its something for them!
At night time I can hear them downstairs chuntering away at each other and running around through their tunnels but it doesnt keep me awake ;)

my 2 are very noisy at night as I found out to my cost a few weeks ago when I couldn't go to bed as I'd dislocated my shoulder & thought It would be easier to sleep downstairs with my arm propped up on cushions.I only lasted the 1 night downstairs cos of the racket they made jumping on & off the yellow house in the nero 4 they sounded like a bunch of fairy elephants!!then they were rattling the water bottle then they decided to lob their ceramic food bowl against the sides of the cage as if they were trying to say hey mum we're here & we want feeding! this was at 2am.I gave up trying to sleep & put the tv on.

bless them, I'm thinking it may be a bad idea keeping them in my son's bedroom then!

I have tallulah at the bottom of my bed and she goes straight to bed when lights out and only wheeks for breakfast when she knows I'm up!

indoor cages are fab and my two were both second handers. a rabbit 150 with stand for £35 and a ferplast 100(i think) for £10. bargins and both in great condition.

As for the cage refered to at the begining of the thread i had one back in tha day for my first piggie and loved it. it was lovely to see him well and was easy to clean.

the only problem was the heat in the summer. but nothing a frozen bottle of water wouldnt fix ;)

My two boys are quite quiet at night unless they run out of hay/water/pellets and become hungry. Since my cage is full of edible items (correx... hidey holes...) they get chomping on the noisiest items they can get their little gnashers on!

Thankfully, my boys only really start to challenge each other when there's light. This is great when it's winter, but not so much when it's summer and 5am is morning and veggies time to them!
