Well since my home made run was a disaster, i have been using the tops of the caes as little runs and just placing them on the grass, Anna is now in the smaller cage alone which is metal bars and an flap open front, so put the cage bottom on the grass next to this side to stop any escapes, worked a treat. I now move on to Polly and Squidge (the only girl baby) they were in the large cage which has a plastic top and a large metal grate as a lid, so just put this straight on the grass, made sure it was flat so no sneaking out, hangs washing out, goes to put the kettle on and looks out the window to see Polly running around the garden munching the grass! she had pushed the grate off the top so there was room for her to get out and climbed out! (obviously now i know i hadnt clipped it on properly lol)

Darted out side with a sheet, called for her and she came trotting over to my feet looked up, and must of thought you have no veg and then shot back of to the patch of dandelions under the slide lol used the sheet and caught her and brought them all back in side, i will never go to make a cuppa again when they are out side lol

i knew she like running around the house on her own as soon as i take the top half of the cage off she jumps out and scurries around your feet and follows you around but i didnt think she *** have been able to get out of there,

the most annying thing is though, when i was getting them all sorted to bring back in she was trying to do it again. they had shade and water, but she must of thought the grass is greener on the other side!

What a fright for you! I have had my own share of houdinis in search of adventure over the years in my secure garden; some piggies just love exploring! Most come thankfully back for a treat (God bless their greedy little guts!) or the company of their friends, once they are well settled and bonded.

Best find a way to secure your cage tops to the ground or invest in a run that can be secured, though. Once a piggy has found a new exciting thing, they want to do it again; and they can be surprisingly persistent and crafty!

I used to use curved tent pegs, they will hook over the bottom.bar of your cage into the ground and likewise for any style run!

ahh thats a good idea, well hopefully in a few weeks we may have a bit spare money and i can actual go and buy the wood to make a large square frame in stead of just 4 post of old wood and trying to attach some wire lol, very bismle attempt, i need a handy man as my man certainly isnt handy when it comes to DIY lol x
