Things your parents gave you to eat that you never fed your children or relatives children.

Sprouts.
Cabbage.
Spam fritters.

I love tomato sauce on toast. In fact I love tomato sauce on everything.

One thing I loved and my Mum disapproved of was sugar on tomatoes. My Grandad (paternal) always had sugar on his tomatoes and he let me have it too. My Mum tried to ban me from going there, she said he was a bad example. He also taught me to play cards for penny's before I went to school!

My late granny when I was round there used to make toast with thick slices of butter on but cut into little squares,I loved it.She also made corned beef sandwiches and literally cut the butter and put it on before the corned beef.I don't have kids but I don't think I'd do it that way lol.

Aren't Grandad's great? Such a bad influence! My Grandad always used to give me and my brother ice cream sodas. My Grandad passed away when I was 7 and I've not had one since because I want to remember it as a lovely treat and I'd probably hate it now.

Since all my children have four legs I'm free to eat whatever I like, and having a very sweet tooth, your post reminded me of the golden syrup and clotted cream sandwiches we used to get for lunch at work. Mince pies are expensive, but I do love them, have to improvise not having a cooker, so currently having mincemeat sandwiches!

Sadly my Grandad passed way when I was around that age too. I lost the other one a couple of years later. Grandads in my experience were very special people.

Sounds like a perfect granddad

My Mum used to give us golden syrup sandwiches ….and my brothers had their dummies dipped in it !
I always used to ask my Mum for golden syrup on bread and butter whenever The Pink Panther cartoon came on TV - why, I have absolutely no idea! She complied, but rather reluctantly, I think.
