I've gone to clean my male guinea pigs rear ends to make sure there's no saw dust or hay stuck up there, to notice his bum was packed with this thick cream in colour smelly discharge, I've cleaned him out. What is it? And do I need to get him to the vets? He's just over a year old.

Thanks in advance

It is most likely some build-up of boy stuff in the anal sac, but if you are worried, please see a vet.

It's gross isn't it? Hehe. Don't worry I got a shock to when I first did it.

Thanks I've also contacted another guinea pig owner and she said it's a common cause with boars, I just didn't want them to suffer if it was something more then that.

My partner couldn't cope with the smell! I'm going to give both my boys a bath and hopefully soften it to make it easier and throughly clean, I was worried i needed to get him to the vets.

Why do such cute creatures produce such nasty stuff!?
I know, disgusting. I always clean my boys bits out, but that was just a shock today. I think it's down to rubbing their bits to mark spots and I have to boars that live together, so they might to it more to cover the other ones smell, but I don't want to separate them because they love each other so much.
