Hi! My 2 year old boar pair were previously indoor guinea pigs, but due to change of circumstances (had to move house and the only landlord who would accept them insisted they have to be housed outdoors "at all times") they made the transition to being outdoor piggies over the summer. They're in a sturdy Chartwell 5ft single hutch and the garden is well sheltered, but the temperature is dropping so low recently and I'm constantly fretting! I already had a Scratch&Netwton snuggle insultator with the rainproof cover over the top, but I spent last night adding insulation to the inside walls, ceiling and floor, adding a 13.5 tog duvet between the snuggle and cover, covering the front with fleece blankets and packing as much hay and fleecey beds inside as I can along with a heatpad. Last night the temperature was apparently 1 degree celsius in my area (Stafford).
I'm looking to install some kind of thermometer so I can track the temperature inside the hutch overnight, ideally via phone app, or even one where I can at least check the temperature when within range of the hutch (via Bluetooth?) so I can see actually how warm it is inside without opening it up and letting the heat out. My perfect situation would be similar to a "baby nursery" set-up where you are alerted if the temperature goes below a set parameter, but with the hutch at the bottom of the garden, I doubt I'd be able to get it to connect to the WiFi. If it's simply dropping too cold during the night despite my efforts, then I'm taking up an "eviction be damned" attitude and housing them inside for the winter. Has anybody got a similar set-up, or can recommend a product which will allow me to monitor the temperature remotely? I've seen lots of products online or on Amazon, but the descriptions and reviews are often so vague that it's impossible to tell if it will do what I want (and they're not cheap!).
Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Thank you!

I don’t have a wireless thermometer so can’t help on that front. I had looked into them, but I couldn’t find anything appropriate and again with it being down the bottom of the garden signal would be an issue!
my boys are outside in my shed so while they are out of the wind and rain, I still have to take all the same precautions against the cold of hutch covers, blankets, extra bedding and snugglesafes. I have a normal thermometer cable tied to the wire front (but inside the hutch under all the covers) which I can access via opening the blankets like curtains so I lay one blanket on the left and one on the right. That way I can get to it without removing anything and letting any warmth out, i can simply move one blanket the smallest amount to read the temperature and then cover it back up.

When we’ve had outdoor piggies, we used this. It has a good range and comes with three sensors. Alarms can be set if temperatures go too high or too low.
