this is what i have upgraded Chock to as from this afternoon
good points about this cage is:
the cage can iether half open as it has two doors that open independantly of each other so you can open half up or open both of them at the same time and you can get full access to all of the cage as one side is lifted up.
the length is quite good
1 m 2 cm
80 £ cost

Chock is loving all the extra floor space he now has at his disposle.
sorry if the name of the company for this cage is wrong
i've probably spelled it wrong which is most likey not being able to see how its written down
i just asked the assistent in pets at home to take me to the biggest rabbit cage for in door use that they had and they showed me this one which Chock is now in.
what are other people's views on this cage?
i cant make a c and c for obvious reasons so i have to get the biggest store cage that i can
he also has floor time as well every day so he's not stuck inside all the time as i think its important for any animal to be able to have time for them to be them selvs but in a safe and controled environment so they cant hurt them selvs...

just thought i would write the length out in old style measurements in case people don't understand metric as some peole don't
1 meter and 2 cm is 46 inches long
hope this helps...

I have the Skyline Maxi which is a similar size. You could have got the same cage off Zooplus for £40 unless the offer is off.

Ferplast 120 are fine but I found a duo needed a lot more floor time, especially if one of them was a boar. I also like the fact you can take the top off and use for grass time if required.

I have one of those - I used it when my piggies were smaller, and while Rufus had to be kept from the girls for 6 weeks!

Have you seen the stand you can get? It's a little pricey but it lifts it up of the ground by about half a metre. It has wheels on it too so it makes moving the cage around easier. I liked the stand because I didn't have to kneel on the floor!

I made a stand from grids for my 120 which my girls are gonna be in when I get my big cage built for the boys. The herd run about underneath but you could use the space for storage.

Hi Madguinealady are your boys in the same room as your girls, if so don't you find the boys cry because they want to be with the girls.

Heathcliffe has been with the girls since I got him around six months ago and Milo is my five week old baby.Neither of them bother.Wiebke keeps boys and girls in the same room and never has trouble.Heathcliffe is neutered .Don't know if it will change as Milo gets older but fingers crossed he won't react cos he has been brought up with them.

the issue when your blind and ordering things online is you cant feel anything at all
i prefer to go and feel stuff so i have an ideea what i'm gonna be getting if that makes sence.

Maddy that makes perfect sense. I prefer to go to shops to see and feel the things before I purchase, but sometimes that can be difficult as shops have only so much space. You have a very good cage I have. 120 cage but the Skyline Maxi. What substrate are you using in yours?

I am currently experimenting with Aubiose, Fitch and puppy pads. Next cage clean I am going to use only Aubiose and puppy pads. This is mainly because I can get Aubiose for half of the price of Fitch. And my hamster is on Fitch because he is long haired.

all my pigs have been on wood shavings and as long as you do regular spot cleans you can usually keep their hang out area dry
i've scattered dandelion mix, marigold and dandelion herbage and Chamamile stocks
over the cage floor as well as a toilet roll and he's been having great fun forageing about in there.

at least now he has more floor space to move around in i can put more in the way of toys in for him to reck at his own leasure...
pigs are very good at recking things i've noticed...

just thought i would give you an update...
Chock is settled in his new home and he loves it
now i've got a guilt complex over not upgrading him faster, but i'm so pleased he likes his new home...

i also did a spot clean under his wooden house that acts as a sleep space/very good hay rack and nothing stuck to the cage floor at all where that was a major issue in his last cage.

@Flamestriker whats Fitch? I have a long haired hamster and have been struggling with bedding for him.
For bedding I use shredded Toliet roll, but I still use wood shaving. You will not get past your hamster looking like a tramp.
:lol!:
To be honest I used to brush him, now at cuddle time I gently take the shavings out of the fur. It's his 2016 look be quite honest Charlie likes the tatty look. So unless the hair is mattered l don't bother with it.

Ahhhh! I use kitchen towel (also shredded) for his nest and sawdust everywhere else. I thought there was an alternative I didn't know about! Poor guy does look like a tramp quite often!

@Maddy I'm glad Chock is all settled in. It is a really good cage. And there's no need to feel guilty - you've upgraded his cage and that's all that matters!

Fitch is a white horse bedding that looks like small pieces of tissue paper. I get it from Amazon, but it is expensive. It is also very absorbent. I prefer it to Negazorb, but I am currently experimenting with Aubiose, Fitch and puppy pads.

Maddy, your little one loves his cage. Chock is one spoils man! :)

since i scattered edable things over the cage floor since Saturday night there has been no chirping for the time being at least
Chock has never moved house before so i'm not surprised that he found the new space daunting/scary.
Thats how i feel when i move house so i'm sure its the same to a pig...
he did ask to go back home the other day after he'd been in his play pen for 3 hours and he usually falls asleep in his hay box so the fact that he asked to go home is progress i think

think i mentioned this in an earlyer post but my memory is so rubbish i cant remember
the thing i like about this cage is that notih
ng sticks to it so its really easy to lift dirty bedding out of it where it would stick in his last one and that was a nightmare to clean his old cage was...

i have no idea but its no longer in the house because while moving it from the room where we live to another one i cracked it by accident on both sides at 1 end...
i just heard a loud click noise then when i put it down i descovered the crack...
oops...

Been there, done that. Cages can be so brittle...

But at least you won't be tempted to keep more piggies in it now it's cracked a bit (that's what I would tell myself anyway :))

as i rent a room in a house and not a house its self getting more pigs isn't an option at present...
I also think chock would have something to say about that as well...

since i started scattering food round his cage floor at night thats stopped the chirping totally
he loves his house now which is nice as i think he was scared of the open space but he runs about and jumps around like a total nutter
lol

he's gone from being totally frightened in the space to totally loveing it...
If i could have got one that was bigger i would have but that one was the biggest rabbit cage pets at home had and he gets out every day to run as well so its not like he was stuck in all the time...

i love the fact that the cage is so easy to clean as nothing sticks to it so its easy disinfected or to spot clean.

i also like the fact there's enough space for Chock to chuck his toys about in there...
