Well, as you may know my parents came up yesterday to stay with me as my dad was in Bristol for work. They brought up my birthday running machine.

How exciting! :)

So last night we spent about an hour assembling the . At last - time for me to have a go . . . . . .

It's a manual one, so the idea is your feet make the belt move. Well, it went so damn fast i couldn't keep up ;D

It was on an incline, my feet were going like a demented hamster and the only way I could hang on for a few seconds was to grip the handles for dear life. After only a few "steps" me feet had slid all the way down, off the back and had hurt. More like skiing backwards than running.

So we looked in the instructions to see how to slow it down. Tighten up the bolts it said. So we did as far as they would go. No change. Still demented hamster.

Now, I am an experienced runner and have been road running for at least five years and I couldn't go at the speed it was going at. The booklet suggested you start off by walking. An impossibility.

So, poor old parents, who are going back home today, are taking it back! ;D ;D ;D

Oh no Lucinder

how disappointing for you, after all the time waiting for your running machine and looking forward to it so much.

Hope you didn't hurt yourself too much when you came off it and your parents can get it sorted out for you soon.

You should have seen me ;D ;D ;D

I think it is dangerous - I guess they are one of those things where you get what you pay. I should wait and get an electric one when I've got some money.

Until then - the open road for me. ::)

Yes, there is on, but I don't want to go there because
a) expensive
b) full of bone -headed blokes - I imagine - from who I've seen going in ;D

I toyed with joining a gym now that am trying to get a bit fitter.. but know I just don't have the time. With work, travelling, piggie things etc...not enough hours in the day.

So opted for a cross trainer, so at least I can do some late at night before bed time.

I am starting to 'enjoy' it now, even though I am terribly unfit but at least I can enjoy collapsing on the bed when cream cracker-ed after a session. :D :D

LOL i'm still picturing you running like a demented hamster ;D ;D ;D

What a bummer, you were so looking forward to it too :P

I went to a gym for awhile it was very expensive and lots of PLASTIC people, i hated that part but did love being able to use all the machines.
Oh well looks like you're going to have to run in the cold for a bit longer BRRRRRRRRRR
