Hi everyone, I haven't abandoned tgpf but the reason I'm not around much at the moment is that we've got a new puppy called Jem :smitten: She's 7 weeks old and very very sweet but hard bluddy work :o :o All she does is sleep, eat, play, wee, poo and chew and it's non stop ;D So when she nods off I'm off down the shed to sort out the buns and pigs who I'm feeling guilty about as they're not getting as much attention as they usually do, but I keep telling myself it's only temporary

Here she is

aww a little darling thats the worry with puppies they eat poo wee and chew , we will go through it all again , when we lose our darling max he is 14 now, but we will get 2 from same litter again like before so double poos wees and chews lol I love it :smitten: :smitten:

She is gorgeous and I know what you mean about all the hard work, puppies are exhausting, my little one is 5 now and yet I rmember those puppy days sooo.... well ::)
So well, I've said never again ;D

Michelle, it's generally considered easier to avoid getting pups from the same litter as it can lead to training difficulties and it's been found that the pups often form closer bonds with each other rather than the owner :-\

Of course it your choice :)

I was told this too, as there were two pups available and for one mad moment I considered both but was told it's not a good idea. I've since read the best thing is to stagger them, ie get one pup, then a year or so later get another

no way, will only get two from same litter 2 males we have had such wonderful years from max and charlie never any real problems and they were always wonderful to each other playful and loving to each other Max missed his bro so much, but would most def 100% recomend 2 from same litter again they were very protective of all my kids especailly when babys Max still is now bless him , never had any probs training they seemed to help each other in some ways and as for forming bonds, well they adored each other and all of us of that I'm sure, we do make sure the breeds have lab in known for being gentle and reliable, our first dog muffin ( hence my name michellemuffin) was a german shepherd crossed with lab and was a total darling, max and charlie are border collie crossed lab, and I am pleased that all 3 from pups fitted into our family life perfectly,

I was beginning to wonder where you were Kathryn! Glad to hear the new addition is keeping you on your toes. She is so gorgeous.

My dog is nearly 6 now - not sure if I could go back to the puppy stage again! They are so lovely but it is such hard work :)

SO sweet! I love puppies, they're just so gorgeous. My dogs are 9 and 7 now and I love them more than ever, but when we go back to the photos/videos of when they were puppies, it makes us all broody again! (Guinea babies are easier!)

Your little pup is gorgeous - enjoy! :)

Yes, I think that makes a lot of sense and it's what most people do if they want 2 at around the same time.
Have you read the book "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey? It's a really good read and with lot's of up to date training ideas. Some dog books are so old fashioned. I found it invaluable, things had changed a lot since the last time I'd reared a pup. Are you going to puppy classes :)

The Perfect Puppy is a great book. As Barbara says some of the older books are really outdated.

A friend of mine had 2 male spaniels from the same litter and unfortunately they fought, fine to start with but then really used to hurt each other. She tried an animal behaviourist, and had one neuteured but still couldn't sort it out. She had to re-home one in the end (and he went to a lovely home). But I've no personal experience of having pups from same litter.
