They are gorgeous. :)

I do hope they all find super forever homes very soon :)

I know, most of them came from the same awful back-yard breeder who had the same color. We normally have a whole bunch of colors and breeds, but since we got them all from the same person, they're all the same color :-\. We had other guinea pigs, but we were lucky enough to adopt them all out before we took them in, because we knew there was going to be a lot.

I'm not sure, which is that? Sorry, but I've been really busy lately and haven't been keeping up with the news like I should ::)

I don't believe that we're going to get any new laws like that, I wish we would though. If she does this again next year we're not gonna let her just quit and give them all to us, we're going to report her and then get them through the humane society. It was just awful there, and I don't know how anybody could do that to any animal, small or not. It wasn't just guinea pigs either, she had rabbits, pigs, goat, sheep, horses, chickens, ducks, dalmations, and poodles. People really stink.

Oh gosh that is awful.

Used to watch US Animal Planet with the 'Animal Police' and they look so tough and get things done with no messing and prosecute, that all for the camera?

That wasn't all for camera, but most of it was hoarders, breeders, people with dead animals all over the place, etc. I don't know if she's been reported before or not, but like I said, she's not just gonna give up on them again. I'm going to report her and then get them through the humane society because it's WRONG.

i totally love watching those progs, they really get to me sometimes

I don't even think it could be considered breeding. She put them all in a ferret cage (guinea pigs don't climb so they were all cramped in the bottom, the space on the bottom wasn't enough for one, much less 15), it had a wire bottom, it was outside with nothing to protect them from the wind and cold, it sat on bricks so all of their poop would go through, she didn't know how to sex them, she didn't want to know how to sex them, she didn't know who was Mommy and mentioned she sold a mother and the baby died the next day, and they back bred because they were all in together. It was just awful and I'm so glad I got them out of there. I don't know why she gave them all to me, but she also kept two (two girls, but one was very heavily pregnant). She brought the two inside and so now she doesn't have much to report, but I'm definitely going to next year. ARG! Why do people have to be so awful!?!?

I don't doubt that concept one bit one bit. Anybody with a heart, whether a small one or a huge one, would never do a thing like that. They were all so happy when they were put in their nice, big, warm cages and there was two or three, not fifteen.

that is truly awful! It's the $$ signs that attracted her?

That's what attracts some (not all) breeders too, and they can't be bothered with all the caring part :(

what i dont get is a famous guy thats my friend bought some piggies the other day,he said he was having them for dinner on friday ( yest) and i went totally mental at him..he wasnt joking either,in fact I'm seriously p***ed off at him,he used to love all things fluffy until he got allergic to them...I was talking to a friend of his and she says hes locked them away as he knows that she will try her hardest to rescue them
i swear if i find out hes has done that, ill never talk to him again...he'll have broken my heart, and hers

thats when you know some people def have no hearts

The only thing is she was only selling them for $5.00 when they sell for $35.00 in the stores. That's not a lot of money at all, a four-year-old would have that much money. However, she does do petting zoos and such (she brings them to the people's houses and lets them be passed around and handled and such by strangers which is awful, but another conversation altogether) so maybe it's just that she gets the money from them there. *sigh* I don't know, it's really irritating.

And sehnsucht, that's just awful. People do really eat them in Peru. It's a horrid thing to say but, they're so little, how can the tiny bits of meat that come from them satisfy people? What's the point? Gross.

In a way though cos of the price, people would buy more cos they are so cheap - then forcing (kinda) her to produce more, slowly equalling to some kind of a profit?

Fantastic site Kimmie, if I ever need to escape England can I come & help you out please?!

Poor Piggies. They are such lovlely little characters, I don't know how anyone could not want to look after them properly and give them the cuddles they need. Glad they have you to look after them Kimmie.

whats wrong with normal pork? its cheaper and you get more of it + you don't have to kill it first >:(

Oh.... I think its just S.America (Peru?) where they have traditionally eaten guineapigs... it sounds awful to us but they eat dog in Korea and horse in France.. just different diets in different countries. Maybe they can't get normal pork so easily. If you're hungry you'll eat anything eventually, believe me, I lived in Asia for almost 4yrs and you end up eating anything (chickens feet, raw horse, fish eyeballs).... have to accept the culture where you live.
