Well since the my two rabbits moved outside into snazzy and spacious new digs I've had a move round in my pet room. This has meant that we've been able to finally fit the gerbils' tank in there instead of them being at the top of the stairs and we've also been able to set up a permanent small animal correx playpen.

I decided after some debating with myself to try using the bunnies' disused dog crate as a piggy cage - which I mentioned in (( This thread )) the main reason being that Ned-the-Spiny-Mouse lives on top of the crate and it's handy to store things on top. I was concerned about the wide bar spacing though and didn't want them to have less space than they'd had in their previous large C&C cage. Sooo I used Correx to make the dog crate bar spacing safe and added a large 'porch' with non-slip Vetbed on (there's Correx underneath it to protect the laminate). I plan to replace the multi coloured bars with C&C grids when I finally get round to buying some cable ties! The 'porch' is a permanent addition - they have access to it all the time.

And I may or may not remove the door to the dog crate - am not sure yet - I was worried about safety but it doesn't seem to bother them as they just walk underneath it....... oh and they don't use the Fiddlestix - they just 'hop' over the entrance to the dog crate! I may still get a larger one though for my own peace of mind.

Oh and apologies for the colour clashes lol. I've got tons of fleece that I need to cut up so I can have two contrasting fleeces rather than the rather mind-boggling matching fleece and accessories. I've ordered a hay rack too but it's not arrived yet.

But anyway! Here it is:

I think Ronnies pretty relaxed in it...

Thats absolutely fabulous. I love itx)

Thank you! :))

They've been noisier than ever since they moved in and they can see us more easily (if that's possible....!) - and it's easier to interact with them. Ronnie especially loves his nose scritches and scritching behind the ears, bless him! They are two extremely talkative piggies! :(|)

OMG I love it too! It's gorgeous.

May I ask where you got that bed from - it's great! Looks familiar but I can't place it - is it the place that makes the crash pads?

Lovely cage, i do like the fleece its very funky and bright! :)

The piggys seem very happy with their new funky pad. :))

That is a fantastic setup! I'm so jealous of it! I bet you and your piggies x)x) it!

PS - Ronnie's a hunky boar...8;):))

Thank you! It's an oval bed from (( Hammocky Hammocks )) - the fleece is from there too.

The 'tree' is a rather gnawed version of one of (( These )) lol.

Thanks for all the comments! The other thing I like about the new set-up is that they can free-range more easily - without being picked up.

He he! Don't tell him things like that - it will go to his head! He is a rather large *chunky* boar as is Tommy his brother! ;)

That's an awesome pad with some seriously groovy fleece! I love it!

... and should you ever feel you don't have enough to do one day all that headroom is basically
begging for a second level ;)

Lol I have thought about that! I certainly have plenty of grids and Correx to use so yes; I may well add one at some point. I may as well really lol. All the way across the back do you think?

That's what I thought :) If you get some kind of long piece of wood that fits between the grids on either side the shelf it could support the front of the shelf so that you only cable tie it to the back so that you could fold it up and secure it with a bulldog clip or so for cage cleaning :) It would be easy. I can see it so clearly, it looks awesome :))!

OMG! I LOVE the hammock- it is so sweet. I will definately be treating Tess to one of those- she loves climbing and exploring! :rose

Ooohhh thank you! Brilliant idea! We have some wood left over from the rabbits' set-up (shall post pics of that some time in Other Pets) so it shouldn't be too hard to do. Will update if / when I do it! :)) xx

Looks Brilliant!
To go with that psychedelic fleece you need the "hippy" fabric cosy bed from Cavy Couture
